lol Did you see it? It sucked! I only gave it two stars 'cause I liked the music and I'm a big fan of both Marc Anthony and Hector Lavoe. That movie was just all over the place. It was hard to follow lol

I really wanted to like El Cantante but JLo really can't act. Overall, the movie gave me the creeps.

I liked listening to all the music, though. lol

Like what?

Like

1. Having casual unprotected sex with a stranger is perfectly ok and humorous

2. Pregnancy is the biggest concern with unprotected sex, not STD's, especially the incurable ones

3. A jobless drug addict is a completely suitable father as long as he tries

4. Everything will work out in 9 months. You will fall in love and know the other person completely and be capable of raising the child made without love

5. Happily ever after

Jeez! I felt the same way!! I was soo annoyed with this movie disbelief
If you will, so will I

I love you but i didn't get any of those messages from that movie. lol

Everything that happened in this movie does happen. I didn't view it as advocating anything. The best message I got was the father got his shit together so he could be a good father to his kid.

Right, and when the child starts asking questions about the past or help with homework, he won't remember shit because of the dead brain cells

Even though there are things in that movie that happen in real life, I don't think was a good idea to make it a comedy. They could have told the same story and made it a drama, like in "For Keeps"

then it should have been written and directed by other people. confused

i think the premise of the movie was appropriate for who it was written by and who it was aimed at. it was meant to be airbrained "dude" comedy with gross-out humor and tucked inside it all was a heartwarming little moral message about personal responsibility. i don't think "knocked up" was trying to save the world, but it might have inspired a few stoners to grow up just a little bit, and i guess that's a good thing, even though i strongly believe some people in this world should not reproduce and seth rogan is hardly the person i want encouraging reproduction among his demographic.

not to be a film snob or anything. lol redface

I was having a Kevin Smith marathon over the weekend but didn't finish.

Mallrats 3/5
Chasing Amy 5/5
Dogma 4/5

I love Chasing Amy, definitely one of the more underrated movies of its time.

But Dogma barf

I still do want to see Sex and the City, does that invalidate my opinion?

In the theater:

(1) "Forbidden Kingdom": star star star 1/2 ...People waited years to see Jet Li and Jackie Chan have a 6 minute fight and it was pretty enjoyable, but the movie wasn't amazing. The cinematography was absolutely beautiful and many of the fight sequences were superb, but I didn't get the whole kid from our world going to this ancient world and becoming its savior. It wasn't the best plot, but it wasn't the worst either. It was pretty good.

(2) "Wanted": star star star star star .... loved this film because it had great action the whole movie and the plot was pretty interesting to me. Plus, it had Morgan Freeman, Common, and Angelina Jolie in it, so that's all I'm going to say about that.

(3) "The Dark Knight": star star star star 1/2 ...it was very good, but it gets 4 and a half stars because (1) it could have been knocked down to 2 hours instead of the 2 hours and 32 minutes it was; and, (2) they should have had more Two-Face, but other than that, it was pretty awesome.

In my living room:

(1) "A Clockwork Orange": star star star star 1/2 ...it's a classic, but the whole time I was watching it, I was thinking to myself: "I know this was made in 1971, but it's set in the future, why don't they have cell phones and better cars in their future?" lol Other than that, it's a phenomenal film.

(2) "The Orphanage": star star 1/2 ...loved "Pan's Labyrinth" and my boss was hyping the hell out of this film, but, honestly, I was really expecting more than what I got. It was alright, but I'm tired of movies with creepy kids in them. I was expecting the kid to be horribly disfigured, but it wasn't all that bad when he took the mask off and the ending was like, WTF?!?! confused The two creepiest parts were when that woman got hit by the car and when the main character was playing what I interpreted as the Spanish version of "One, Two, Three: Red light" then the little children slowly appearing...other than that, over-hyped and no where near the greatness of "Pan's Labyrinth".

(3) "The Banquet" (released on DVD in the U.S. as "Legend of the Black Scorpion"): star I'm only giving it that star because it had a few good dance sequences and one or two good fight scenes. Other than that, this movie sucks, which explains why it went straight to DVD here in the states.

omg Wow, I'm surprised nobody has mentioned this movie yet:

Mama Mia: star star star star star Cute movie, I highly recommend it! Cute/touching story line, great music (especially if you love Abba's music), lots of dancing and singing. Funny and touching; a great movie to see if you love musicals. I suspect this movie would be more of a "chick flick" than a "guy flick". giggle

Over Her Dead Body: star star star star star Another cute movie with a nice story line. Not a musical, but entertaining and enjoyable.

Not sure what the third movie was that I saw. The fact that I even saw two movies in the past month is unusual for me. I don't watch as many movies as I used to, when I was younger. smile

screwed up the stars emoticon edit doh!

The Last Mistress (2008) star star star star (out of five) - When I think art house film, this is exactly what comes to mind. Dangerous Liaisons redone perhaps, but Asia Argento was drool .

Wanted (2008) star star star - The overall story was very interesting, but some parts were ridiculously unbelievable. The assassins have the ability to curve bullets. Okay, but what about all those other impossibele, crazy things they were doing?

The Dark Knight (2008) star star star star - As great as this movie and Heath in particular were, I can't give it five stars because I still don't buy Christian Bale as Batman. He looks too stocky and what the hell was up with his Batman voice?

Superhero 1 - (only because I can't divide by zero.

That means zero can't be in the denominator. Zero out of 5 is just 0.

Get Smart (2008) starstarstar - Some of it was predictable, but there are enough funny parts to make it enjoyable. It's worth a rental.

The Dark Knight (2008) starstarstarstar - Very good overall, but not without its flaws. It's way too long, the Batman voice is laughable at best (and irritatingly incomprehensible at worst), and Bale is still unconvincing in the suit. Heath Ledger is phenomenal, though -- maybe enough to supplant Burton's Batman as my favorite Bat-flick. Well, live action -- nothing beats Mask of the Phantasm.

Iron Man (2008) starstarstar and 1/2 - It took me a long time to see this. I heard rave reviews, but I've always hated the character. Much like Batman Begins, the beginning is tediously long and boring. On the plus side, the suit was fantastic and Downey made a great Tony Stark (i.e., it was easy to hate him). Despite its flaws, it's easily the best Marvel movie outside of the Spider-Man and X-Men series.

Transsiberian (2008) starstarstar 1/2 - Some of it was a little over the top, but still a good story about two Americans caught in a smuggling operation in Russia.

Frozen River (2008) starstarstarstar 1/2 - Near excellent drama about smuggling (again) people over the U.S./Canadian border.

Mongol (2008) starstarstar 1/2 - Kind of slow at times, but beautifully shot. It's the story of Genghis Khan.

Sex And The City (with my daughter lol): star star star (out of five)...better than I thought it would be, and funnier, too.

Step Brothers (with my daughter lol): star star 1/2...really stupid in a kinda good way...had several laugh out loud scenes, but wasn't much of a movie.

Dark Knight: star star star star
