I like them. It's like reading a book with the good parts already highlighted.

And it reminds me of the first Playboy magazines I saw back in the 70s.

they both have their appeal. The white skin says you're seeing something not everyone sees. But the tan all over look says "wild!"

There is no such thing as a good tan. A tan is a sign of ultraviolet damage to your skin. Continued sun exposure and tanning not only damages your skin, making you look older than your chronological age, but it also significantly increases your chances of developing skin cancers.

My mother has had several skin cancer cells removed from her face over the years. The last round was so bad that they almost had to get skin from another area of her body to do plastic surgery with. When I see tans I automatically think of cancer.

What people take for granted on a daily basis, among so many other things, is their skin. I spent my life, like many others, catching some rays, surfing, hanging out in the sun and it never bothered me until now. Who knew that something as simple as a proper sunscreen or keeping yourself covered up on a sunny day could one day save your life? Our culture looks at a nice tan as a sign of luxury. We spend time in tanning booths when we can't go to the beach or lay by the pool. It's time to think again. Especially if you're fair skined, have freckles, or light eyes. Be aware of the dangers, take precaution, and have yourself checked out regularly by a dermatologist from head to toe. It could absolutely make the difference in your life.

But you don't like tan lines? How do you avoid getting them?

And more importantly, where do you tan? Exact street address please.

So, what about if your body is exposed to the sun but you DON'T get tanned....are you still at risk of all that happening?

Yes, I sound ditzy but just answer the question!

i don't like tan lines, though sometimes there's something a little cute about a farmer's tan. i guess if it looks accidental/incidental, it's more attractive to me than if it looks like someone was setting out to do it on purpose. shrug

nod Some are more at risk than others. Fair skinned, light haired & light eyed people should make good use of sunblock, big hats and the shade.
