David Bowie (REBEL! REBEL!)

Music legend David Bowie was arrested in upstate New York in March 1976 on a felony pot possession charge. The Thin White Duke, 29 at the time, was nabbed along with Iggy Pop and two other codefendants at a Rochester hotel following a concert. Bowie was held in the Monroe County jail for a few hours before being released. The below Rochester Police Department mug shot was taken three days after Bowie's arrest, when the performer appeared at City Court for arraignment.

Bobby Brown (Lot's of MUGS!)

Singer Bobby Brown was photographed twice on November 7, 2002. After Atlanta cops charged him with possession of marijuana, speeding, and driving without a license or proof of insurance, they discovered an outstanding warrant in neighboring DeKalb County (where he was popped in April 1996 for DUI). The oft-arrested Mr. Whitney Houston posed first at the Atlanta City Jail in a khaki shirt, and after posting bond was transported to the DeKalb County Jail for a second, more casual b'ball jersey/t-shirt photo. He posed for a third mug (in a nifty striped sweater) on January 17, 2003 after pleading guilty to the 1996 DUI and being sentenced to eight days in jail. The fourth mug shot was taken in August 2003 after Brown was picked up for alleged probation violations. The recidivist was photographed at the DeKalb County Jail in February 2004, after a judge revoked his probation. And finally, in July 2004 Brown reported to the Fulton County Jail for booking in order to avoid an arrest warrant after he got busted in December 2003 for misdemeanor battery following a fight with the missus. Oops, we said finally, but Brown was arrested again in March 2006 in Massachusetts after a check turned up a 1992 warrant for unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle and an uninsured motor vehicle trailer. He posted for the bottom photo and posted $40 bail before heading out on his way.

Keanu Reeves (Actor-cute!)

Arrested May 1993 for DUI in Los Angles.

Johnny Cash!

Johnny Cash was arrested in October 1965 at the El Paso International Airport after U.S. Customs agents found hundreds of pep pills and tranquilizers in his luggage as he returned from a trip to Juarez, Mexico. The Man in Black spent a night in the county jail and later pleaded guilty to a misdemeanor count, for which he paid a $1000 fine and received a 30-day suspended sentence.

Paris Hilton (SKANK! mad )

In January 2007, weeks after pleading no contest to a reckless driving charge stemming from a drunk driving arrest in September 2006, Paris Hilton was pulled over and issued a citation for driving with a suspended license. She signed a document acknowledging she was not allowed to drive (but did anyway) and was again pulled over in February, this time charged with a probation violation. As a result, she was sentenced to 45 days in jail, which she began serving in June 2007. Hilton modeled for the mug shot on the left after her September 2006 arrest. The shot on the right was snapped by the Los Angeles Sheriff's Department when she began serving her sentence.

Now that John Gotti's pushing up daisies at St. John's Cemetery, all we have to remind us of the Dapper Don are these mug shots--pictures, shattered pictures of the smiles we left behind.

Suge Knight! (A Dangerous Rap Producer! eek )

Marion "Suge" Knight is pictured in a California Department of Corrections mug shot taken in March 1997. The notorious rap producer was serving a stretch for violating probation on a prior assault conviction.

US immigration seems to be very strict when it comes to drug abuse and convictions related to it, see Amy Winehouse. How come that celebrities like David Bowie, The Rolling Stones and George Michael never have any problems with US customs or immigration authorities ?

Snoop Dog (In the POUND! For REAL!)

The rapper Snoop Dogg was booked on a felony charge of possession of a dangerous weapon in November 2006. Snoop (real name: Calvin Broadus) posed for the below mug shot while being processed by the Orange County Sheriff's Department. The performer, 35, was charged in connection with an incident at John Wayne Airport during which security personnel discovered a collapsible baton in his luggage.

Vanilla Ice (Oh my god, he's melting! biggrin )

Vanilla Ice (real name: Robert Van Winkle) was arrested in April 2008 by Florida sheriff's deputies and charged with domestic battery after his wife told police he assaulted her. The 40-year-old "Ice Ice Baby" singer was then taken to the Palm Beach County Sheriff's Office, where he posed for the below mug shot.

Let's backtrack a little to an earlier arrest...

Robert Van Winkle (aka Vanilla Ice) was arrested by Davie, Florida police in January 2001 after allegedly pulling hair out of his wife's head during an argument. Van Winkle, who copped to disorderly conduct in April 2001, was sentenced to probation and ordered to attend family therapy sessions.

Jay-Z

Rap star Jay-Z (real name: Shawn Carter) was arrested by New York City cops in December 1999 for allegedly stabbing a record executive at a Manhattan nightclub. Originally charged with felony assault, the performer pleaded guilty in October 2001 to a reduced misdemeanor count and was sentenced to three years probation.

Mel Gibson sad

This mug shot of Mel Gibson was taken following the Hollywood star's slur-spewing drunk driving bust in July 2006. Considering some of the booking photos previously snapped by Los Angeles sheriff's deputies, the 50-year-old actor looks downright dapper.

Sammy "The Bull" Gravano

Admitted mass murderer and Mafia turncoat Salvatore "Sammy the Bull" Gravano was sentenced in October 2002 to 19 years in prison for heading an Arizona-based narcotics syndicate specializing in the club drug Ecstasy. Before he became a pusher, Gravano served as John Gotti's right-hand man in the Gambino crime family. After testifying against the Dapper Don, Gravano was relocated out west, courtesy of the witness protection program. It was there that Gravano resumed his life of crime--and had this mug shot taken by the Maricopa County Sheriff's Office.

Mike Tyson (Ex-Heavyweight Champ sad )

Troubled ex-heavyweight champion Mike Tyson was busted by Arizona cops in December 2004 and charged with misdemeanor criminal damage. According to Scottsdale police, an inebriated Tyson departed the Pussycat Lounge at 12:45 AM and jumped on the hood of a stranger's car, causing about $1500 in damage (the boozy boxer/hood ornament was yelling at the car's driver while perched on his hands and knees on top of the 1999 Toyota Solara).

Former heavyweight champion Mike Tyson was arrested in December 2006 on drunk driving and cocaine possession charges following a police stop outside an Arizona nightclub. Tyson, 40, was pulled over when his BMW nearly struck a sheriff's cruiser after he left a Scottsdale bar. When he failed field sobriety tests, the pugilist was arrested for driving under the influence. A subsequent search turned up two small bags of cocaine in Tyson's pocket and another bag in his car. He was booked into the Maricopa County Sheriff's lockup, where the below mug shots were snapped.

Mike Tyson posed for Arizona sheriff's deputies in November 2007 after reporting to a Maricopa County lockup to serve a day in jail. The former boxing champ, 41, had pleaded guilty to felony cocaine possession and a misdemeanor drunk driving count following a December 2006 arrest. In addition to a brief jail stay, Tyson was sentenced to three years probation, ordered to perform 360 hours of community service, and directed to undergo drug testing.
