Is it really true that you guys have some kind of festival or tradition where you search the cities for baby puffins who are lost, take them home for the night and then take them to the coast the next morning to let them go?

If so, cutest tradition ever.

There is a group of islands just off the southern shore of Iceland called the Westman Islands, with one inhabited island of 4000 people. This is where the puffins are in Iceland.
In August, there seems be a lot of baby puffins that fly over to the Westman Islands town during the evening, intrigued by the town lights. Unfortunately, they have almost no chance of getting back to their home since the local cats tend to kill them.
This is why the kids living in the Westman Islands often go and rescue them. Often a group of 2-3 kids gather dozens of puffins in cardboard boxes and then let them go in their natural habitat the next day.
The usual restrictions about children staying out late are lifted for this tradition and the kids tend to be compete about getting to the puffins, sometimes with each other, other times with the cats!

No... I don't mind OTHER people eating this kind of stuff, as long as I'm not forced to eat it and as long as my "Icelandic-ness" isn't questioned because of me not eating it.
Anywho, I do eat SOME of the food served at these kind of Þorri buffets, not the gross stuff though.... just the dried fish and smoked lamb.
