Venus & Serena Do It Again!

For the third time, it will be an all-Williams final at Wimbledon. For those of you with daughters, I can't think of any better female sports role models than these two wonderful young ladies.

I can't wait to see the finals this weekend. Both the men's and ladies will be awesome. I'm not even sure who I want to win. I guess it doesn't really matter at this point.

Good luck to all four!!

nod nod nod

Serena is my dream girl (that body!), but tennis-wise, I love Venus even more. I hope she and Federer both repeat.

The rankings are based on a rolling 52-week calendar. Venus maintained the same number of points by winning the title like she did last year, but Serena's appearance in the final is a 2-round improvement over last 2007's quarterfinal loss.

Did they win the doubles match? I woke up at 6 to watch it, not a normal occurrence for any kind of sports. I went right back to sleep right after the interviews. It was definitely a much better sister match than the previous ones.

Someone on the radio was hoping it wouldn't be those two playing against each other. They said the sisters never play well against each other shrug I have no clue. I don't watch tennis

You rolled your eyes at Serena being ranked above Venus. I was just explaining why that is. shrug

It has been very awkward in the past for them to play each other. This match was by far their most entertaining and best played. Until now, the Australian Open final in 2003 was widely considered their most competitive (and possibly only good) match in a slam.

No, that's not what I meant. hehe Someone said "they rock", well, yes they did for two weeks, but they're not ranked #1 and #2 right now. That's all. smile

Rankings don't mean shit anymore. They haven't been ranked really high in years and they still walk in to tourneys and whup some ass on the regular. nod I really wanna go to the US Open.

Oh, OK. Of course, they're not ranked #1 and #2 anymore because they don't play as often as the other ladies. OTOH, they play their best at the biggest, most important tournaments. The current top 5 players have 5 slam titles combined while Venus has 7 and Serena has 8.
