I was sued by a big, but shady rental company (with a notorious douchebag lawyer) right after I graduated college because one of my roommates (an on-again, off-again junkie) didn't pay the rent one month.

I got served. Neither of the other 2 guys did, even though it was the non-junkie roommate who they said hadn't paid the rent. You can be sure that I supplied the lawyer with his name and address.

The junkie, who through a series of weird circumstances is the one I believe didn't pay the rent, disappeared off the face of the earth the semester before we moved out (although his parents paid the remaining rent for the year), so I doubt he even knows anything about it. If he's even alive. confused

We ended up settling. The other guy and I split the payment. We're still friends, but not like we were.

I really ought to look into whether or not that scumbag lawyer ever filed the settlement with the court so that it was resolved. Last I knew (as of a year later), he hadn't. I guess it might come back to haunt me if I don't check again.

I was sued after I was driving and got rear-ended by this guy and his girlfriend. The girlfriend sued both her boyfriend and me because of medical issues with her back, but then our lawyers uncovered the fact that she was already being seen for back problems before the accident ever happened. They dropped the case.

Bitch. mad

If they rear-ended you, why would you be sued?????

Because in Minnesota, unless the law has changed since then, the person who stopped and got rear ended is still 10% to blame for the accident. confused
