Calling all American travellers :wave2: As some of you know, I'm from the UK, and I had a trip booked to travel around the west coast of the US for 4 weeks in September, LA, SF and Vegas, and maybe Mexico. Well my plans have changed slightly and now I am looking for suggestions I am meeting friends coming from New Zealand but they have changed their plans so that they get to LA a week later - leaving us only 3 weeks.
So my question is this: Do I also change my flight and spend only 3 weeks travelling with them, or do I look at flying to LA on the original date, then spending a week somewhere else, like the east coast, on my own? Any suggestions or websites would be appreciated Especially geared to single female traveler! I really want to go to Boston for a week but I'm just trying to figure out A if I can afford it and B if there is anything else that I am missing out on, like a couple of days in say Chicago or New York! I don't know how I am going to pay for this Rock n roll baby

you might just rent a car and drive up to Yosemite and/or Lake Tahoe, if not already planned with your friends.
@ Yosemite I remember The Apple Tree Inn to be quite okish in pricing and the setting is amazing. I'd settle for a week alone there anytime, just to get the batteries charged. You might also spend some time visiting orgers

As for visiting orgers, I'd be up for that, but they have to stick their hands up and volunteer Rock n roll baby

Oh and also, what is a realistic figure for how much I will spend in an average big city in the US, daily, on a budget - $50? that includes hostel accommodation...
I should have posted this when the Americans are awake Rock n roll baby

Fuggeddabout the East Coast, Chigaco & such.....fly west, get a car and do a roadtrip! You're going 4 weeks, that should be planty of time!
Go to the Canyon, maybe even Monument Valley. Lake Tahoe indeed, Yosemite. Along the coast: Route 101 is beautiful, Carmel, Big Sur (if it's still there after the bushfires). San Francisco is a must, LA is goofy fun! Arizona.....breathtaking..... I'm jealous!

I should have posted this when the Americans are awake $50 a day is not realistic unless you plan to find somewhere you can stay for free or not do anything that costs money other than eat, I'm afraid. I suppose it could be done, but definitely not in New York or Boston. When are you coming? I've got a couch you can crash on if you want to see Mpls. |

I was planning to travel away this year in the fall but my car was just totaled and I'm going to have to buy a new one. So I could use some of that vacation time to show you around. |
