Video Shows Patient Dying on Floor

A surveillance camera captures a woman, 49, dying on the floor of a hospital in Brooklyn, N.Y. The video, released as part of a lawsuit alleging abuse at the facility, shows people ignoring the patient for about an hour after she collapsed.

The video was released Monday by lawyers suing Kings County Hospital alleging neglect and abuse of mental health patients at the facility.

The video shows the 49-year-old woman keeling over and falling out out of her chair on June 19 and lying facedown on the floor, then thrashing before going still. About an hour passed before someone realized what was happening and tried to help.

The agency that runs the municipal hospital - the city's Health and Hospitals Corp. - fired several staffers as a result.

What the fuck is wrong with people that they just sit there. That lady in the tan coat gets excited at the end but they don't show her going to the aid of that woman at all. I can't imagine treating an old lady with such disrespect disbelief The same shit is happening here in LA. A woman collapsed on the floor and was bleeding and a janitor just swept up around her. She died like this lady disbelief

90 percent of the people that work in these facilities can care less about the patients. I wouldn't expect other mental patients to say anything if there is an emergency, its the personnel's responsibility.

What happen to nurses and doctors that actually cared and respected the medical field?

WTF???
Say it's just a dream...
U open up ur eyes and come 2 realize

I use to work in Kings County hosp in the N building (psych ward).

That whole hospital is fucked up.
And as messed up as this situation is...it is nothing compared to the crap that goes on there day after day.

I watched a show on the psych ward there and there was a woman who was brought in and they said she had been tied up in the waiting area for 3 hours and when they showed her on camera she was screaming "GET ME OUT OF HERE, I DON'T WANT TO BE HERE, I'LL DIE"

that was the first thing I thought of when I saw that on tv this morning. they know that they will die there. sad

We all should know that diversity makes for a rich tapestry, and we must understand that all the threads of the tapestry are equal in value no matter what their color.
