Fashion model Ruslana Korshunova died Saturday in a fall from her apartment building in New York. Fashion model Ruslana Korshunova died Saturday in a fall from her apartment building in New York. Ruslana Korshunova, 20, died around 2:30 p.m. in a fall from a building on Water Street, in Manhattan's Financial District, The New York Post, the Daily News and Newsday reported. The newspapers cited unnamed officials and police. Police said the fall was under investigation. Korushnova's New York agency and a spokeswoman for medical examiners did not immediately return telephone messages. Originally from the former Soviet republic of Kazakhstan, the almond-eyed, flowing-haired Korshunova appeared in advertisements and on runways for such designers as Marc Jacobs, Nina Ricci and DKNY. British Vogue hailed her as "a face to be excited about" in 2005. Her break came when modeling booker Debbie Jones noticed her while perusing an in-flight magazine article about Korushnova's hometown of Almaty, according to the Vogue report. "She looked like something out of a fairytale!" Jones told the magazine. "We had to find her and we searched high and low until we did!" Copyright 2008 The Associated Press. Ruslana Korshunova has died after jumping off the ninth floor of her New York apartment building. The 20-year-old rising Russian supermodel's suicide occurred before 2:30 p.m. when she jumped off her 130 Water Street apartment in New York's Financial District. She apparently cut the construction netting that enclosed her balcony just before jumping.
Moments after Ruslana Korshunova fell, witnesses said, "Her arms were crushed. Her head was on the left side and blood was coming out in a pool." The 5 foot 8 inch model had come a long way from her humble beginning in the former Soviet republic of Kazakhstan. Her Russian name is руслана коршунова. After she was noticed in an airline in-flight magazine, the green-eyed blonde beauty went on to appear on the covers of "Elle" and "Vogue" magazines and starred in ads for Christian Dior and Vera Wang. In 2005, "Vogue" even said that she had "a face to be excited about." With proportions 85-62-85, the slim Ruslana Korshunova had recently returned from Paris and seemed happy. But Saturday afternoon, she suddenly jumped off her downtown apartment building, dressed in jeans and a purple shirt. Police reports indicate that there was no struggle in the apartment, but her cause of death is yet to be determined. Link: http://www.digitalalchemy...model.html The fact that she went through the trouble of actually cutting the construction netting before jumping makes it sound like the jump was intentional. How tragic that some people get so depressed and despondent, that they feel that suicide is the only answer. Especially somone like Ruslana, who seemed to have everything going for her. She was so young too. RIP, mom. I will forever miss and love you. | |
