Would you take a job that pays substantially less...

if it were for a cool organization within walking distance?

confused

Would you be going backwards if you accepted it? Or would you keep beating the bushes for something better?

Not if they hire Anx. He's a slacker and would make me look bad. I know it.

I wouldn't be able to right now because I'm now a single mom and can't afford to, but in theory I would. Pay is not everything. Oh...to give up having to drive work?! I'd love to.

you're making me play a card i don't want to play:

what if the only other job available was working as kirstie alley's personal assistant?

and i think you know what i mean by PERSONAL. neutral

You're nice enough on the outside, but inside you're black as the night. I honestly don't know what I've done to deserve... that.

You hurt me Anx. You hurt me real bad. sad

Well, okay, that title was misleading. Let's say you're unemployed. Income = $0

But you're worth more and have a set rate, and then this jobs comes along and entices you at a weak moment?

it would depend on the benefits they were offering me. a job with less pay BUT great benefits and more vacation time PLUS it's a cool organization and within walking distance would probably be a good thing.

of course, i'm still in school so any regular paying job (within limits) would be a good thing. lol

Hmmm. Maybe. I know that's a lame answer, but I really couldn't say for sure. I might take it for a while and see how it goes. I know for a fact that I can live on next to nothing so it's possible.

It's only part-time so not much benefits, BUT there's an opportunity to take theater classes (for free?) and free tickets to shows.

at this point in my life, if i earn a lot of money, i get used to spending a lot of money. if i don't earn a lot of money and i'm happy with what i'm doing, i enjoy what i have and i don't worry about the money i don't have.

i would totally take a job paying way less than i make now, yup. nod

that wouldn't be enough for me. i would rather get the benefits and then pay for theater classes and tickets than have no benefits and get those things for free.

But wait...are you in the US or in another country where they have things like universal healthcare? Because if healthcare was just automatically taken care of then...maybe... hmmm

Why are you crying?

lol Because I had just set up my own business and began making a decent wage for the first time in my life. I was enjoying the money and the independence. biggrin Then my freelance gigs dried up, and while I could get some more, this job walks along, enticing me in a weak moment. Less independence, less money, but lots of coolness!

It's a hard decision for me.

i would be afraid that the coolness would wear off once i fully realized what it meant to have less independence and money.

I was making a good wage, but the place was utterly dysfunctional. Ack! So I guess it's a trade-off. But does it have to be? Could there be non-toxic environments that pay well AND are cool? Or is that asking too much? hmmm

Nah, I'm a commitment-phobe when it comes to work, so I never take full-time employment, hence no health insurance. confused I purchase my own healthcare insurance (catastrophic only), but that issue is still a mess.

Well, i've quit two jobs because I hated them. The first I took a 25,000 dollar paycut and the second, a 40,000 paycut. Nothing will ever beat being able to sleep at night and having peace of mind. Plus, even though I took a paycut at my new place, I am making it up in bonus and my boss lets me work from home now.

It will all come back to you.

I'm a hustler, I always have something up my sleeve besides my arm. I have a side business that I'm developing, but also work that job too. I guess maybe your biz needed more attention than just working on it after work?
