The iphone 3G which comes out this Friday has full featured GPS and will come with an updated operating system which amongst other things provides full featured control over itunes on your home computer via bluetooth. It's gonna be so cool sitting out on my deck in the sunshine controlling my desktop itunes (which contains all my music stored in full quality) connected to the hifi system from my iphone!
Also the new online iphone application store is opening where you will see hundreds of independently developed apps/games being released over the coming months. http://www.apple.com/ipho...store.html There's no reason to doubt the quality of the iphone, when it came along last year, it turned the mobile phone biz upside down. The interface is so fast and smooth, the other phone companies have been playing catchup and knocking off the iphone interface like crazy trying to stay in the game. I can't wait to get the new one this Friday _ Music, sweet music, I wish I could caress and...kiss, kiss...

No. The overall experience may be impalpable for some, but it is definitely not impractical. The little touches add up to a big advantage. Just one example: apparently, the keyboard on the Samsung phone always pops up in landscape mode -- even when you're looking at something in portrait mode. That would annoy the crap out of me. I personally want concrete technical features in a phone - but obviously each user decides for himself/herself what he/she is looking for in a phone.
I want good features that are easy to use and work together in one great package. Right now, that's the iPhone by a landslide IMO. "Whitney was purely and simply one of a kind." ~ Clive Davis

The more they try and cram into these phones, the more I just want a plain old cell phone.
Just because a phone can display a web page or open an email or launch a game of tetris or act as a makeshift navigation device doesn't mean that it does any of these well. Not to mention, battery life on cell phones is relatively limited and even moreso if your running applications that keep your screen lit up constantly. Is it even practical to try and click on a hyperlink within a web page on a cell phone? Respond to an email or post on a bulletin board? Can you put your cell phone on your dashboard and use it as a navigation device - hoping the battery doesnt die before you get to where you need to be? It sounds more and more like these phones are tying to be swiss army knives than anything.

The N95 is sooo last week I picked mine up in London last August. The N96 is out soon in Europe - that will kick the Iphone's buttocks. Not cheap though. http://europe.nokia.com/A4797539

Sarcasm??.. Where do you see sarcasm?
The reason I'm posting here is very pragmatic: I need to buy a phone in the US once I've relocated there, I have two top favorite ones [the Nokias and the iPhone] but since I don't know anything about their use in the US as well as how they compare, I thought I would seek opinions here. In other words, I value Orgers' opinions, including yours, and far from me the idea of belittling/mocking them. And I am genuinely torn between the two makes - proof that your little pitch somehow had an effect on me. The N96?.. None of the latest Nokia brochures here in Moscow list it. Hmm.. that's interesting. So it's the very latest Nokia model in that series, right?
Any idea when it will be out in the US ? PopeLeo said: Flo6 said: Oh dear, I'm really torn between the Nokia N95 and the iPhone now again...

I totally agree.
The multimedia things are fun and all, but I essentially need a phone for my work, and that is, in most cases, just to place a call. Same thing for my computer. I haven't touched the iPhoto, iMovie, Garage Band and other apps on my Mac since I bought it. In other words I don't need them. And don't get me started on all the 'different ways of doing things' on all these high-tech devices. You know, like when you can access a feature/program from various routes, or when there are 2 or 3 different ways for opening an application, saving, deleting something, etc. Essentially I need one way of doing each thing. And I mean, who pays for this? For this doubling/tripling of functions on these devices? I'd rather not have them and have a cheaper phone/computer. [Edited 7/6/08 20:22pm] Does the iPhone support Windows Media Player? I want a new phone, but I want something more like a pc (or at least it supports the windows media player software). That way, I can stream radio stations from across the country on my phone. Sprint offers the "Sprint Radio Premiere" package that allows you to stream certain radio stations through your phone. It's cool, but I would prefer the capability of streaming other stations than the 20 or so that they have (that I listen to). **--••--**--••**--••--**--••**--••--**--••**--••-

You can stream video from your PC as well. Studies have shown the ass crack of the average Prince fan to be abnormally large. This explains the ease and frequency of their panties bunching up in it. |

I think its soo much better than the iphone. CNET ranks it pretty well, too. I always go to their site for the reviews before I purchase. I have to say LG has had some slammin' phones the past few years. I'm on my third one--I've got an orange enV. I'll be getting the Voyager next.

I'm thinking about the Mogul from HTC (on Sprint's site). It does everything that an iPhone can do and more. Essientially, its a PC. I know several people that have one and they love it. They can do web things as well as view word files, pdfs and more. Do the iPhones support PDF? **--••--**--••**--••--**--••**--••--**--••**--••-
