Man VS Wild

Does anyone here ever watch Man vs Wild, on the Discovery Channel?
That Bear Grylls is something else, I know it is all hype, and that he get's "assistance from the crew when Bear is in danger" But the things he does sometimes turn my stomache. Especially when he carved a camel carcas to sleep in, in the cold. Or when he drinks his own pee, or even better when he will eat a live snake. Dear god, I hope I am never in a situation where my only option to stay cool, is to pee on my t-shirt, and wrap it around my head. rolleyes

I stopped watching when it turned out that he actually went to a hotel at night. I hate phonies!

Survivorman is the real deal but after I've been bullshitted once, I'm skeptical. Drinking his own piss and some of the things he eats really makes me think...what would I do? I think that's the point of the whole show...

Phonies? I'm sure he has a much better chance of surviving under those extreme conditions than the average person does. It's about showing what one can/should do, not about showing some idiot putting his life on the line for ratings.

Anyway, I love that show! smile

Whatever, don't tell me you're sleeping in the Wild while you and the crew go to a hotel, reality shows with 80% reality need a disclaimer.

Sorry to burst your bubble but everyone's watching the show hoping he's putting his life on the line. Why else would someone watch another drink their own piss?

Survivorman at least comes clean when he's staying with a tribe that's going to protect him for the night from Jaguars. He'll have the camera on him all night when he's sleeping or can't because of the lions roar.

I just like to hear how people can survive in those situations and like seeing him eat and drink nasty shit. Not sure what other people expect, but it's no secret most people aren't very smart.

I do not believe that Survivorman does all of his camera work, that would be beyond difficult..and sometimes they have him being zoomed in and out from above. Interesting?

About Bear Grylls, I always assume someone is off camera handing him balance bars and gatorade..and the rest is for show.

I like Ray Mears too, maybe not as extreme as others, but definitely interesting to watch.

I'd have to agree. For me it's the information that's the main interest, not so much his personal hardship. Granted I don't forsee myself ever being in such situations but I watch anyway.
