The Brave One - Another Boring Jodie Foster Movie with a Good Premise. OK I like Jodie Foster and I think she's a great (overacting) actress. But what is it about he movie choices. They all look good in the previews and even the first 30 - 45 or so I'm with her. Then something doesn't start making sense in them and then I'm The Brave One sucked!
She had me at the begining and the premise was decent enough. I've recently been mugged/attacted so I was feeling it (though not nearly as brutal by a long shot). Maybe it was the detective guy that ruined it or maybe it was unbelievable he'd be at each crime scene in NYC. I just don't know...I was expecting better. Don't even get me started on Flightplan, cuz that movie can just s-u-c-k i-t! Christian Zombie Vampires

I know. The thing with hers though is that they LOOK good, they just aren't. At least I know what I am getting into usually with a Cate Blanchett or a Gweneth Paltrow :vomit: or even worse Meg Ryan movie I can almost say the same with Tom Hanks and a miriad of others. Except Meryl Streep she seems to keep a good balance of Banal, Comedy, Sentimantal, Romance and Aging Women movies to keep you guessing and entertained, but even she's not getting the roles she used to...that or good movies are few and far inbetween. Hoestly no one is making any Sophie Choice type of movies any more. Christian Zombie Vampires

I agree with you but she was good in Inside Man maybe cuz it was in small doses. And she was hot as hell too. I didn't know she could be that sexy.

loved her in maverick. i think comedy was good for her.
a lot she has done since is not good. the brief bit in inside man was okay. i think with film-making now they seem to blow a lot of the budget on getting a 'name' into the movie. when one good actor/actress has to carry a movie it is usually not good.

My brother said the scariest thing about that movie was the way Jodie delivered the line, "Dr. Lechter, Dr. Lechter!" I'm sick of the roles she chooses - Panic Room, The Brave One, (the one about the airplane, the name of which is escaping me right now) - they're all movies about a woman all alone (sometimes her child) fighting hoards of evil folks. Cate Blanchett - I thought Notes on a Scandal was really good, but I hear Golden Age is lousy (haven't seen it, so I can't say). And whilst Bill Murray is my favorite living actor, I LOATHED Life Aquatic, mostly because of Cate's character. The gum chewing, the swearing - ugh. I liked the soundtrack, though. Oh, you mean Panic Train (after Panic Room and Panic Plane)
I almost didn't remember the real title. I liked it. But I liked the other two as well. It wasn't awesome, but it had a darker edge than the other two, and I was entertained. But I always like watching her on-screen, so that probably has something to do with it, whether the movies are any good or not. I actually really enjoyed "Broken Flowers." I enjoyed his neighbor, his road trip, and the way his past loves had changed (made Don consider how, if at all, he had changed). This movie also featured typically annoying actresses (Sharon Stone, Jessica Lange) in fine form. I wasn't thrilled with the ending, and the scene where he visits 'Dora and Ron' was quite uncomfortable to watch, but I liked the movie. Partly because of Bill, partly because I usually detest Jim Jarmusch's films, so this one was a pleasant surprise. It's no "Lost In Translation" or "Rushmore," but it wasn't "Larger Than Life" or "Osmosis Jones." "She made me glad to be a man"
