I love Busy Lizzies in hanging baskets and pots during the summer but I'm not growing any this year as I'm often not around to water them.

i planted some for my first time yesterday. they are in some flower beds. in the flat they were all bushy looking. but now i planted them spaced apart they look a little thin. I didnt plant them too far apart though. will they fill out? or do I need to pinch them back? I'll post a pic, one sec.

I space mine out but they do grow bushy (errr, excuse the term) I do usually deadhead them and they like lots of water. They will look lovely I'm sure.

They look lovely! I think you'll need to ask an expert or find a site for more advice, but I think they're going to come on really nicely - just deadhead and give plenty of water.

horatio said: Oh, I guess I do. I plant "flowers" I need pictures if you want me to be specific about it. Studies have shown the ass crack of the average Prince fan to be abnormally large. This explains the ease and frequency of their panties bunching up in it. |

In my experience, you should be good with that spacing and such. I have found those to be hearty and aggressive. I have had some spring up 20 yards away from where I have the main group planted. Studies have shown the ass crack of the average Prince fan to be abnormally large. This explains the ease and frequency of their panties bunching up in it. |

do they look stressed? Nah, just freshly planted. If you haven't already, give them some Miracle-Gro, and they'll go crazy. To me, and I am no professional, they seem very fragile when you plant them, but given a week or so of water and time, they get pretty sturdy. those will do real well Horatio, just make sure you keep them watered, they dry up fast...and don't worry, they will expand big time!

Don't worry, in a few weeks they'll fill in like crazy. I love impatiens. They used to call them Busy Lizzy because they grow and spread so quickly. The Normal Whores Club

Well, you've gotten plenty of advice already,
so I'll just say I grow bunches of them every year. They're gorgeous, and I love the colors you picked!

do you have to pinch them back to make them fill in? Or just leave them do there thing other than dead-heading them.

I'll post a pic, one sec. that's just because they are a bit tall. you probably could have planted them twice as far apart and with a good pinch back still had them fill in they look great though. don't let them crowd your hosta. beautiful retaining wall btw.
