I always feel so sad for possums. We have squeezed them out of their homes and they wander in unnatural habitats, being hated, reviled, attacked, run over by cars and all sorts of sad things sigh

i wouldn't want to see anything bad happen to an opossum, but they are scary, intimidating, ass-kicking and rabies-carrying lookin' MFs. boxed

raccoons scare me too. oh sure, they're cute in pictures and they're adorable when they're babies. but when you step out on your back porch and there's a fatass raccoon as big as a damn dog wobbling around hissing at you, you're not gonna invite it in for cake and shasta!

True, I read a report not too long ago about a kid putting one in a cage, pouring nail polish remover on it and lighting it on fire neutral

omg hug Ick, you're very brave to be able to catch him the way you did. I don't blame you for being freaked out, I would be too. But it sounds like this story had a happy ending.
RIP, mom. I will forever miss and love you.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Opossum

When threatened or harmed, they will "play possum", mimicking the appearance and smell of a sick or dead animal. The lips are drawn back, teeth are bared, saliva foams around the mouth, and a foul-smelling fluid is secreted from the anal glands. The physiological response is involuntary, rather than a conscious act. Their stiff, curled form can be prodded, turned over, and even carried away. The animal will regain consciousness after a period of minutes or hours and escape. Many injured opossums have been killed by well-meaning people who find a catatonic animal and assume the worst. eek

Beavers are huge, strong and extremely nasty when in defensive mode. I've seen what they can do with their bite - saw one fuck up a poor little dog once - almost bit it's entire nose off. Those things full out lounge at you with no fear and if you get in the way of a pissed off beaver smacking his tail - prepare to have a broken limb.

Beavers are bitches. Beavers, otters and psycho red squirrels - total fuckheads. I love animals but those three...not so much.
