I started watching the playoffs with a dislike for Kobe, and ended with a real appreciation for Boston. They did an amazing job.

Yes, I jumped on the bandwagon just in time!

I think Lakers fans had more passion and fire for this series than the team did. Everyone expected Boston to win at the beginning of the season, and they did just that. Lakers fans were simply hoping that LA would win a playoff round. They got more than what they expected.

Boston played a great series and Paul Pierce became a bona fide superstar. This series was excruciating to watch for Lakers fans like me. They were in 5 of the 6 games in the last minute. They had an historic collapse and took a massive beating from their biggest rival in the course of 5 dats. That's a lot to recover from, but there may be more to look forward to in the years ahead.

Brief prediction: Lakers lose in the Western Conference to San Antonio or New Orleans in 2009 and win it in 2010. Boston loses in the Finals in 2009 and the Eastern Conference playoffs in 2010. But if Detroit lands Carmelo, it's a wrap for the C's.

The games were nuts. No lead was too big to overcome (until game 6, of course!) Each team overcame 20 points to get back in it at the last minute. I have never seen that happen so many times.

I was really shocked at how they shut down Kobe. He still had his 20 something points, naturally (and a number of crucial steals in, what game 5?), but never really went to town.

It was really odd being an old school Laker fan, having rooted for Magic, Kareem, Worthy, Byron Scott, Wilks, Cooper, Rambis, etc and to be rooting for Boston.

One word

1. Kobe smile

It's odd how I've disliked him from the moment he walked on the court wearing purple & gold. He's a beautiful player to watch, I just don't want him to succeed. I'm not proud of that feeling confused

but it helped to actually like the Celtics this year. Pierce deserved it. I have no clue what Garnett said in the interview right after they won, but I enjoyed his enthusiasm lol

It took me an awfully long time to get over "It," but I did. I consider myself a Kobe Agnostic now. For a long time, I hated him. And for an avid, doggedly loyal Lakers fan like me, that was hard. I still don't love him, but ironically, Shaq's words last summer helped me ease up on him. I know Shaq wanted to support Kobe to spite Buss last year, but he still illustrated that the dysfunction of that team went beyond Bryant. Had Jerry West stayed the Lakers might have won 3 more this decade.

So, I can say I understand.

NBA Draft tomorrow. I'm praying the Knicks DON'T take the Gallinari kid. These Euro players have a reputation for being soft. Ask the Laker fans about Pau Gasol.
