PrintableSo many people want this thread to die that I don't want to keep ressurecting it, but yes, I agree - totally flawed logic. He was an idiot though.

I have an acquaintance (he's a friend of my sister-in-laws) who sends me racist emails sometimes - I got one today in fact. He's a Christian and most of his emails are borderline racist, but nearly all are aimed against Muslims in some way or another, i.e. attacking their faith or supporting the war. Some people may not take that as being racist but I do. I do support all our troops, but I don't think that we have to slaughter all Muslims in order to win against Al Qaeda or the Taliban and that's the tone that many of his emails take. I just delete all his emails and never forward them on, but it does interest me to find out what some people are circulating and the type of misinformation that is being propogated, so I haven't told him to stop. It often offends me though. In my day-to-day life here in Britain I'm more likely to encounter racist comments against non-black people (the Polish, Romanians etc) because of the fear a lot of people have here about our borders being open to Eastern Europeans and the fear that we are losing our culture and our jobs. There has been a dramatic shift in this country from racism against colour to racism against other Europeans. That's been my recent experience anyway. I have only shown the email I was sent and the three following ones (two from me and one from the other person) to one person, my boyfriend, and we both agree that the email wasn't in any way borderline or could be interpreted in a nice way, it was pure racist crap. I tried reasoning with this person but it was clear there was no use and that saddened me even more. As for those who can't see the point of this thread or want it to die, don't post on it.
