someone shoved a giant ass rock thats at the corner of my property in the middle of the road/intewrsection. needless to say a neighbor hit it with their car about 2 in the morning.
So we put it back, (between the cops pushing it up to the curb with a paddy wagon and a earth mover putting it back in place)
I look out the window a couple nights ago and its just gone. falloff
Im assuming the first time they probably tried to take it, but someone was probably coming so they hurried and left before they could get it in their car/truck. this time they had enough time to take it.
Im assuming its some kids out of school for the summer. Who else has time and energy to piss with a giant ass rock lol

Weird!

not as weird as your incidents. but the point is crap like this seems to peak during the summer months.

that is probably the truth.
my neighbors and i have started noticing that some kid, well actually he is an adult that lives with his parents, is attracting people over here that wouldn't typically be in this area to bring and buy drugs.
it seems they think its safe from police in nice areas.

which is kind of true cause the police seem to think they need to be in the bad areas and let the good go to shit.

sounds like there is a lot of high level violent energy there.

I'd imagine it has everyone on high alert, that's drawing more danger there.

I'd imagine you are getting to know all your neighbors pretty well?

The funny thing is now none of us talk at all now.

Uh oh.... Is there any way that can be changed? Is there a neighborhood association where these things can be discussed? Although in normal circumstances it's irritating to always have neighbors peeking out the window, maybe's now the time you guys should sort of familiarize yourselves with each other only so you can keep a good look out when stuff looks a out of order. I don't know if this sounds to cheesy for Ottawa, but I have seen people in the States hold block watch events, or coffee dates for their neighbors and invite a policeman to attend. Together they discuss the crime issues in the neighborhood, get some practical advice from the local precinct, and at least agree to look out for each other. I don't know if this idea works for everyone though. shrug

There may be a neighbourhood watch in the area. I should definitely look into it. I don't think it's a case of a trend starting in our area...more like a weird series of unfortunate events.

But it's always good to have a rapport with your neighbours so we're all looking out for each other.

The thing about my street in particular is it's normally so dead after about 10pm. It's all young families and we are all locked up tight in our homes, many with lights out fairly early. With the park across the street and it being a short little street with nothing but homes we don't get much cross traffic in the sense of people just walking around. That happens a few street away closer to the Quickie Mart (yes, we actually have a store called that).

If it wasn't for that creepy dark park that is probably attracting seedy people at night I think we'd have no problems at all.

At least there are tons of cops in my area again so I feel a bit more comfortable being here alone.

Yikes! I can imagine it being rough for you to live there with these kind of things happening at this rate. I hope you are safe and I truly hope things will cool down in that neigbourhood so you won't have to move from there.

I live in NYC and stuff like this never happens in my neighborhood. In the 14 years I've lived in my apartment, the biggest commotion we had was some angry guy was throwing molotov cocktails off his roof earlier this year. Police must have had a ten block radius blocked off because of him. News trucks were here and everything.

I think these events are all just a coincidence right now. In five years, you'll be joking about the one month where everything crazy happened. I hope anyway. smile

Oooh ya. boff

So on my way home today, just down the street from where I turn to go on my street I saw 2 cop cars, 2 ambulances and a firetruck. I was like, "Oh shit". It was probably just an accident or something but I'm all paranoid now! lol
