Online Shopping What sort of payment do you use??
I would rather use debit. Will online shopping sites accept debit payments? Makes more sense than paying with credit card. Discuss..... Ohh purple joy oh purple bliss oh purple rapture! Ex-Moderator | I have a Visa check card. I don't think they even offer debit cards in the state of Minnesota. But Visa check cards are basically the same thing only better; it draws directly from your checking account and is accepted anywhere in the world Visa is. |

I always pay with a credit card. Why do you prefer debit? As for what sites allow you to use a debit card I don't know.

depends on what the site is
paypal usually works fine for something and i use my debt or AMX usually best in situations like ebay or other for sale by owner listings other more high profile places I will use credit card like 1stdibs.com unicahome.com or themagazine.info of course you can call them direct over the phone too

You get to access your bank and pay. That way it's paid for already no credit bill to pay off at the end of the month. I keep a copy of the bank transactions and the emails for shipping information. that's the exact same thing as a debit card, isn't it? i had a visa "check card" thingie when i lived in chicago, and i think my card said "debit". i think it's all just a matter of what we call it from state to state. then again, i don't know much about money or banking stuff other than how to overdraw from my account. i'm good at that.

Paypal is owned by Ebay, so they get paid from everything that happens on the Ebay site and the transaction through Paypal. Its disgusting.

Paypal!!! I just bought a CD recorded by an orger and used Paypal. They take it in so many more places than they used to. And, like Mach said, pay it off every month. I don't leave money in there when I sell on ebay though. I transfer that into my checking account as soon as I can. Music is the language of the spirit. If you decide to pay for the item you won on ebay with paypal which ebay highly advocates, then the person receiving the payment also gets charged by paypal. Thats why sometimes the person listing will tac on an extra charge in the --'handling'--/shipping department to cover the cost of you paying them what they would lose for you using paypal. Its not uncommon, in fact I would say its highly likely, it would just make good sense that even an item purchased by you out side of ebay, but paid through paypal likly has the added charge already calculated in its total cost, unknown to you. [Edited 6/17/08 18:54pm] I understand all the eBay stuff OK, here is the scenario I sent a friend overseas $25 I owed them (there was no set "price" so to speak, I owed him $25 so that is what I sent him, so he got charged for it? I will have to ask him how much he actually got. I just thought it would be an easier way than wiring money or something, since it was international.
