just saw "the happening"...

i haven't seen a movie in the longest. the last one, i think, was the simpsons movie lol. i must say this one was quite decent. for those who haven't seen it or heard of it. it's with marky mark (wahlberg), john leguizamo and zooey deschanel (the kid's sister from almost famous) sexy and directed by the guy that did the sixth sense, unbreakable, etc. the whole premise is some airborne infectant or something is causing people to kill themselves eek. it wasn't bad, it just could've been WAY better. it isn't really very scary or creepy, just well...freaky confused. sorta disturbing at times, with everyone off-ing themselves and whatnot. my favorite scenes are: in the beginning when "the happening" starts...happening lol and construction workers start jumping off a building omfg, a funny part when marky mark is talking to a plant (cuz everyone thinks the trees and shit are the cause), like a "we come in peace" type speech falloff and another scene where a guy is tryna get run over by a tractor omfg (had me chuckling for some reason though evillol boxed). i suppose i'd recommend it. an okay flick cool. anyone else see it yet? smile

I am not a fan of M. Night SHAMalan, but was intrigued at first by the ads for this movie.

However, almost everything I've read about it has been overwhelmingly negative, and I question a film which feels it necessary to advertise that it is the director's "FIRST EVER R RATED FILM!!".

So true. biggrin

I was WAY excited for this judging by the trailer and went to see it the day it came out.

HATED every minute of it.

Even the "suicides" were just unpleasant and horrific. A dude feeding himself to lions! A dude turning a huge lawnmower on himself! A dad crashing his family car into a tree! Horrible! cry

The acting was BEYOND TERRIBLE, seriously how does Wahlberg even HAVE a career?

Same with Dachannel or whoever. I wanted to punch her eyes.

It had barely any plot or storyline and the ending sucked big time.

Waste of time and money and just makes me wonder how Shyamalan ever came up with such beautiful movies like Signs and The Sixth Sense.

Yeah I've seen all the bad reviews, but I'm one of the few it seems who likes Marky Mark (I'm watching Shooter right now razz). But I don't think that would stop me from seeing this as it sounds REALLY bad sad
Receiving transmission from David Bowie's nipple antenna. Do you read me Lieutenant Bowie, I said do you read me...Lieutenant Bowie

I liked him in The Italian Job and (dare I say it) Planet Of The Apes. M. Knight Shamalyan needs to give it a rest with his twist endings though...

RodeoSchro

We were hyped to see "The Happening" last night, but based on the bad reviews here and on Yahoo, plus the last two turkeys M. Night Shamalyan has released, we went to see "You Don't Mess with the Zohan".

It was funny! Good summer movie. Four thumbs up from the RodeoSchro family.

I agree with damn near everything u stated. Although I dug the suicides! But the acting was do do and I'm withcha about Mark Wahlberg. I never liked that muthafucker. He was on point in Boogie Nights though, I'n not going to front about that. But nah, I never cared for Marky Mark. And yeah, the ending was whack. The film in general was slow as hell.I wanted my bread back but my date, she wanted to go. I tried to tell her I felt it wasn't going to be any good but no..."Ahhh let's go see it....I wanna see it."

I hated it. The concept was great (regarding plants getting back at humans) but they gave that shit away in the first half of the movie. Would've made a great twist, though
Maybe we can go to the movies and cry together
