When u marry or if ur married ..would u or did u take ur husbands name...why and why not....
Guys would u want her to?
And what about the kids if u don't ...what would their last name be?

I did not decide because of "tradition". I have chosen to take his name.

I'm not interested to keep my maiden name or use a hyphenated name. I think for some it's a personal choice.

I myself took my husbands last name even though I didn't really like it and it ryhmes with my first name mad neutral ...but I did feel that it was part and parcel of marrying him...that I take his name and had it proudly ..and also that his kids had his name ...and that mine was the same as theirs ....
At one stage I did say to him maybe I could hypenate it ....at wish I got a absoulute no as an answer lol ...and it wouldn't really have been good considering my first name is already hypenated Kylie-Ann

Oh and had I liked his last name I wouldn't have even had to think about it...
That being said if his last name was cock or something as bad there is no way I would give that to myself or my kids!!! lol

I don't believe in women taking their husbands name due to the history of it. It's quite insulting. Neither should children automatically get the father's last name for no other reason than a sexist tradition

Ownership. Women really didn't have rights until fairly recently (past 100 years or less) Women were property of their father, who in turn had to find another suitable man to take on the burden of taking care of here, since she couldn't take care of herself, get an education, or inherit property. So, women went from having one man's name (father) to another man's name (husband) because she was considered property and a burden

I for the longest time said i would never take my husbands last name until a friend told me, wouldnt you want your kids to have the same last name you do??? confused
and yes i would want my kids to have my same last name but then my daughter has my last name now, i did not give her, her dads name. So I guess if i ever do marry and have children later in my life I would do a hyphenated last name nod

It could be either of our surnames, but I have decided to go with taking his surname once we are married.

Well, I think it depends on the situation. I just don't think it should automatic that it's the father's name. Some men are not worthy of their children carrying their name. In a "perfect" situation where both parents are equally involved in the caring for and raising of the child, it should be discussed first and not just assumed. I would personally either combine with no hyphen, hyphen, or create a completely different surname for my child(ren)

Post emancipation bullshit.....disbelief

If I will get married, I expect her to take my last name, my children would have my last name as well. It's been like that for ages, and this so called 'emancipation bullshit' will not stand with me. If the woman refuses to accept the last name, and lets the children not have it either, she'll have to face the consequences in case of a divorce.....meaning not alimentation for her & the kids.....and that's when all the feminists kick their principles out of the door!

In my family, I am the last carrying my surname.....there will be a successor some day! nod

And let's be honest, who wouldn't want to have 'Bierman' as a surname???

My mother didn't change her name. Caused some minor shock-waves among some relatives but for me it's never been an issue.

What's so wrong about accepting your spouse' surname? You can always add your own to it! Shit, it shows that you've bonded, that the back door is friggin' closed! And it shows dedication! These are elementary beginnings of marriage!
This should not be a big deal after having chosen for the person you love!

WTF is wrong with animal skins anyway?? lol

Here in Finland, children are automatically assigned their mother's last name, not their father's.
It is not known why FuNkeNsteiN capitalizes his name as he does, though some speculate sunlight deficiency caused by the most pimpified white guy afro in Nordic history.
