I have taken the time to do some things that make me happy now that I wasn't able to do while in the relationship, but some days are just pure hell in dealing with my emotions. Honestly deep down I know that we can't be true friends again until somewhere further down the line but how do u let go of someone who has been your best friend for so long?
by continuing to do those things that you enjoy that you can't do while you're in a relationship. by trying to figure out who YOU are outside of a relationship. by finding ways to be happy on your own instead of looking for someone else to fill that role in your life that's been vacated, that hole that you feel in your heart. and as Erin said, by having an extended period with no contact. it's hard, and i'm going through the same thing at the moment. but it does work. hopefully it leads to a place where you're not needing him so much. or to a place where if the opportunity arises again, you can both decide if you really want to be together or apart or just friends or to not even know each other anymore. or maybe that's just wishful thinking. i know it's hard when you're both striving for different things or the signals are mixed (or outright lies).
