IS coffee really that bad for you?

Apparently it is confused It can cause miscarriage in early pregnancy, it must be pretty potent stuff right? It can also cause infertility. It can also contribute to heart disease. Anyway, DO you drink coffee? If so is it the "healthy" kind, organic and decaf? (not that there is a healthy coffee) What are your views on coffee?

I only drink coffee once in a great while, but never thought of it as being bad for you. I would think that drinking sugary soda drinks would be much worse than coffee.

eikonoklastes

Want a drug that could lower your risk of diabetes, Parkinson's disease, and colon cancer? That could lift your mood and treat headaches? That could lower your risk of cavities?

If it sounds too good to be true, think again.

Coffee, the much maligned but undoubtedly beloved beverage, just made headlines for possibly cutting the risk of the latest disease epidemic, type 2 diabetes. And the real news seems to be that the more you drink, the better.

I drink Bustello ("hispanic" espresso) it smells very different than the Maxwell House and Folgers (sp?) ... I think its always been organic. Its great for my asthma, and I've been drinking it since I was five, got three kids and zero miscarriages. biggrin

everything is bad for you if you have too much of it. But in moderation coffee has some benefits as mentioned before by others. shrug

I'm on the moderation thing, with everything.

Caffeine can be a problem for me, so I only drink coffee once or twice a week in the mornings. Almost always espresso. I drink tea on the other mornings. No caffeine past about 10am for me generally. ANything later than that will keep me up at night and if I have too much at once, it's like I'm on crack. No lie. A couple of months ago I tried some energy drink and I couldn't even finish a cupful, my heart was pounding and I was talking a mile a minute. I had to dump the rest out.

water can be bad for you.

breathing air can be bad for you.

sex can be bad for you.

vegetables can be bad for you. where i live, there's a recall on tomatoes going on as we speak because of a food poisoning scare.

i'm gonna drink my cup of coffee in the morning. it might kill me, but if it doesn't, something else will. lol

I've read this too, and thanks Eikonoklastes. But I think tea has greater health giving properties. Anyway, I gave up coffee for a while and now ive started drinking it again, I guess I just want to eliminate as many negative points while enjoying it, hence the organic/decaf scenario. oh well.
