I've seen mention of this before and wanted to know if I will avert disaster ahead of time by doing this It seems there is some kind of issue about having to name your tracks. What causes this? Is this when you have a track that is already unnamed that you are uploading? Are you required to give it a name in order to upload to the ipod? If I went in and named songs on my HD that are otherwise titled Track 1, Track 2 etc... will my tracks stay named when I upload to the ipod?

1 - Take ipod in hand

2 - walk to nearest brick wall

3 - slam ipod into wall as hard as possible

4 - ALL ipod issues cured

From what I understand, you don't have to name anything. iTunes will try and find the song or give it some funky name if it thinks it found the song and you have not told it otherwise. It's always best to name your songs as when it's time to play them, you can dissern between the 5 or so Track 1's.

iPod will name your unnamed tracks like this: Track 5. 05Track 5, 0505 Track 5, etc. It's just best to name them as you load the on.

It tries to name them, if you have that in your settings. It is good practice to name your songs. And YES you need to use iTunes in order to put your songs on the iPod. That's my biggest issue.

If you don't want these issues, I HIGHLY recommend getting something so not proprietary like the Creative Zen.

if u have the internet connected it will name the songs..otherwise it will always be track 1 ..blah blah.. for cdr's and you have to name the tracks yourself.
