Many goths listen to other genres as well. Hello, I'm a Prince fam! Johnny Cash is a big one due to his sound, attitude, and subject matter in his lyrics.

I like a variety of music I listen to everything from Frank Mills( I love the instrumental "Music Box Dancer") to metal music from the 80's( no not death metal) my daughter even loves the band Heart(LOVES the song Baracuda) from back in my day in the early 80's lol. I also listen to groups like Within Temptation, Evanescence, Lacuna Coil and the like( I have listened to these groups and in NO WAY are these gruops satan related, depressing lyrics but that dont mean I have to run out and commit the unthinkable like suicide or killing people, EVERYONE gets depressed once in awhile even me) that dont make me goth or evil and such I like the music for a variety of reasons good beat, nice chorus( it remains in my head at times) and many others. Goth dont nessesarily mean people are mean and want to do harm to others or to themselves,its a way of expression they way I was allowed to express myself when I was younger. They also have incorperated music like classical into their songs which is really cool IMHO. Im letting my daughter do that as well she is finding herself and her individuality expressing herself. If she wants to dye her hair multiple colors that is fine too. She understands many people will misunderstand her for what she is wearing out in public. I have the comfort of knowing that if she needs to talk to me about stuff Im here as a parent and will offer the pros and cons about my advice and such.

I guess what I should of said in short terms: you cant judge a person just by their appearance becuase appearences ARE deceiving.

I was also explaining as well that many goth individuals dont always listen to metal music or depressing music either. Let alone dress that way jsut because they are depressed. We had our way of expressing ourselves when we were younger I say if they are not hurting those around them and having a good time let them dress as such. I met some wonderful people that dressed that way at a concert I took my daughter too ( her very first one) and they were the nicest people you can ever meet. The girl had a earing attached to her nose, dressed in black from head to toe and had all the make up on. Yet was the nicest person. Again refer to the bold up top( not being sarcastic when I typed it either sorry).

You are fine in typing what you typed andI understood it completely I was jsut giving light that NOT all goths are like that at all.

I know some very moody, broody types in the scene, but I also know even more chipper, happy-go lucky people who have families and are always willing to meet new people.
