Stuck at losing weight

Okay I've been dieting for 4 weeks now. I have been eating raw vegetables and fruits along with lean meats: chicken, fish, and turkey. I have switched from eating cheese burgers to eating turkey burgers with 2% milk cheese on it...I haven't eaten at any fast food restaurant since I started dieting and if I do eat out, I either get a dish with grilled chicken and steamed veggies or a salad with chicken in it. I also have been drinking water everyday even though it may not be 64 oz a day which is required, but I've been trying. I also have been drinking detox tea daily as well. If I get a sweet tooth, I'll eat a protein bar by Kashi, or snack on a nut and seed trail mix. I cut out all potato chips and candy bars.

I hadn't looked at the scale since I started because when I look at the scale I get frustrated, so today I decided to just get on the scale, curious to see how much I had lost, and i've only lost 4 FUCKING POUNDS!!! THAT'S LIKE 1 POUND A WEEK!!! HOW COULD THIS HAD HAPPENED? WHAT AM I DOING WRONG!

I've been exercising 3 times a week for at least 45 minutes to an hour and this all the weight i've lost in a month?!!? Somebody help me to understand this, I think I should have lost more than 10 pounds by now and i'm just entirely frustrated at this moment. confused sad confused neutral
I will forever love and miss you...my sweet Prince.

Depending on how much body fat you got, one pound a week isn't that bad.

Anyway lot of people drop calories too fast when they start dieting. Not sure if that was the case here. At least you still keep losing weight, so I guess that isn't too bad.

give it time. I was losing inches, but not weight for the first few weeks. I went to the doc last week and I have lost a total of 11 pounds. I got more to go, but I didnt let the scale get me down this time.

hmmm I guess you are right. It would had really been bad if I hadn't lost anything. I'm just comparing it to when I had lost weight before (and i didn't even workout at the gym and lost weight faster). I guess I shouldn't put a lot of pressure on myself. I noticed that my clothes were feeling much different as of yet..but I guess I just have to give it more time.

I don't know how long ago that was, but things as aging and having kids will slow down your metabolism as well. When you're 20 years it's easier to lose weight than when you're 30 or 40.

Oh well i'm 25 and have no kids. When I had lost weight before that was like 4 years ago. But I gained it all back confused I'm 191 right now, the heaviest i've ever been. My goal is to lose 40 pounds.

Doctors reccommend you only loose 1-2 lbs a week for healthy, permanent weight loss.
So good job chica!! biggrin

I don't know your weight/ size, but I'd guess that you we not that much overweight because, larger people tend to loose weight faster than those who are not that big to begin with.

When I first began watching my weight 7 years ago, the pounds melted off, but now I find that I have to put alot more effort in to eating healthy and sticking to my workouts

You're doing fine though, just keep up the good work! highfive
If you will, so will I

Start lifting weights.
You'll actually not loose a lot of weight initially doing this, but you're muscle to fat distribution will start changing. The best way to measure success in the initial two months of doing this is how your clothes fit you--they'll get looser even if you're not seeing the number of pounds come off quickly.

nod exactly. I lost ten pounds over the duration of 3 months, but went down a pant size. Why? Cause I was lifting weights like a banshee

Eating a lot of nuts and seeds, trail mix and protein bars will back you up and keep weight on you. If you're trying to drop weight quicker, eat lighter stuff like veggies and fruits.

Well i've been eating a lot of veggies and fruits, but I read somewhere that protein bars were great to sub for a meal, like when you are on the go and can't sit down to eat a salad that either a protein shake or bar would be good. So is this not the case? I also read that nuts and seeds would be good for snacks instead of chips and candy bars. I do get a sweet tooth often, I try to eat a piece of fruit to satisfy that.

Nuts and seeds are unquestionably healthier than chips or candy bars. But if the goal is to drop weight, they are fatty, calorie-dense and can slow down the digestive process (i.e. constipate you).

Are you talking about protein bars or meal repleacement bars, because if you get the protein bars with 0 impact carbs you're not going to slow down fat loss. Protein to fat conversion is nearly impossible and actually protein speeds up fat loss.

And for God's sake people, fuck the fruits. They're really not that great and most contain way more sugar than you'd expect. If you want fibre and vitamins eat vegetables (preferably green veggies), not fruit. Fruit is a more or less healthy snack, so don't eat lots of it.

Oh okay. Gotcha. I'll keep that in mind and drop those for this week and see if I see a difference.

Cashews are great and contain lots of healthy fats which actually help you get rid of body fat. One handful of cashews a day is not going to keep you from losing weight.

It's only been a month.
Not only are you trying to cut calories, you're trying to re-train your metabolism. That takes TIME.

You have to stick with it.
