I had those thought in my head as a child. Thankfully no longer. I was raised by 2 alcoholic parents, they never physically hurt me, but they emotionally did. I grew up to be semi-normal, and now have 4 wonderful kids and a husband who loves me. I pray your grey clouds go away. rose

Wow, that's sad that you had parents who were both alcoholics. hug That had to be a rough enviroment to grow up in.

I find myself wondering a lot lately...about a lot of things...it's only natural to wonder why we exist, if we have a purpose, if are we living up to our potential...I believe it's important to question our existence...not to the point that it becomes overly self deprecating...but in a manner that keeps us in touch with the reality that-wether we like it or not-our lives often have profound effects on those around us...

I also think that one can take soul searching a little too far...some allow themselves to become immersed in questions and doubts...it's important to not let the questions and the wonder separate you from the reality of the given situation...every question doesn't have an answer...sometimes, things can only be understood after the fact...in reflection...

hug You brought up some good points there; thank you.
RIP, mom. I will forever miss and love you.

I wonder this all the time, and often have wished that I wasn't born, but hey...If I'm here it must be for some good reason, I just don't know it yet

and the same goes for you girl!

i think asking why is a pitfall.

think about a random goose or a housefly or one of those feral cats in greece. why were they born? they're fortunate enough to be born without the impulse to fixate on this question. they really don't care. they just want to fly and honk and spread germs and steal food from tourists, and that's the end of it.

why should there have been a reason for you to be born? what's the purpose of the rest of reality to your life? flip the script!

all of this is my way of subverting the awful truth as to why i was born:

i was born because my dad told my mom you couldn't get pregnant in a swimming pool. rolleyes

But to answer the question, no...I've never wondered why I was born. I don't even care why as I don't think there is any real purpose to life other than to just be and I'm totally cool with that.

Agreed. IAintTheOne, I was not expecting a pity party from anybody when starting this thread, I was asking a simple, honest question. It's ashame that some people have to get this kind of attitude, especially from someone who I talk to regularly in the chatroom. rolleyes

But before I even read it, I think you were born at least in part because without you Cleveland would be utterly beyond a reason to exist! lol

cool

Anx and JustErin really did it up right--it's a blessing to just be content (not necessarily stagnant or apathetic or severely unambitious, mind ye). As long as you're treating yourself and your loved ones right, and are doing what makes you happy, questioning existence is like asking if a frog had wings, would he bump his ass when he hopped.

I believe in realness I stay true to myself and dont let shit get to me, and when i do feel like that i check myself real quick because what good is come of it?. it only hinders the help process.I wasnt trying to be mean and if I offended you or anyone I apologize. But you have to understand where I am coming from.

I believe in realness too, but you did come down on me a little hard there. As others on thread stated, you could have been a little nicer about it than you were. The tone of your post was harsh, and quite frankly, not necessary.
