I'm not sure if THIS guy's the best mentor for Pacman. . .

shake If we're talking about showing him the ropes to be a better corner??? Okay. But off the field, I'm just saying, Deion may not be the BEST role model for Pacman Jones. confused I swear, Deion is such an illiterate dumb ass. disbelief Some of the stuff he says in an effort to sound intelligent is sooooo laughable. lol

Deion takes Pacman Jones under his wing

IRVING – Deion Sanders welcomed Pacman Jones into his home. He helped the new Cowboys cornerback get back into football shape. He also counseled the 24-year-old about avoiding trouble.

"I have a love for this kid that is insatiable," (This just don't sound right) lol Sanders said. "I don't want to call him my son, but I see something in him that I want to love him. I really do."

No matter how much Sanders vouches for him, Jones understands that he is ultimately responsible for his own actions.

Jones didn't want to rehash the past Wednesday in his first meeting with reporters. But he seems intent on carving out a better future with the Cowboys.

"I wish I knew all of this when I first got in the league. Then I wouldn't have made some of the bad decisions that I made," Jones said. "I like pressure, man. No matter what no one says, it's all on me now.

"There's no excuses. I think that I'm in a great position, and I'm ready for it. I'm ready for whatever the challenge is."

NFL commissioner Roger Goodell suspended Jones for the entire 2007 season after repeated violations of the league's personal conduct policy while he played for Tennessee.

The Cowboys traded for Jones in April while he was suspended. Jones then signed a four-year, $13.3 million contract that includes no guaranteed money.

Goodell issued a partial reinstatement Monday, allowing Jones to participate in all team functions – except regular-season games. A final decision is expected by Sept. 1, six days before the season opener.

"I've got a great, great, great relationship with God, and I always knew that I would put on a uniform again," Jones said. "I never had no doubt, because I've prayed, and I've tried to do everything that's been put in front of me."

Several Cowboys players have said they won't escort Jones around town. The organization isn't taking chances, though. Jones is usually accompanied by at least one person from a four-man security team.

Receiver Patrick Crayton said the Cowboys who played under former coach Bill Parcells understand the importance of discipline. Crayton believes that simply playing for the Cowboys will help Jones.

"You know what not to do off the field," Crayton said. "That's never been a hard thing around here."

Jones said he's been working out on his own for the last several months. He started working out with Sanders about a month ago. In two Cowboys practices, Jones has intercepted two passes thrown by third-string quarterback Richard Bartel.

"It's up to him obviously. We all know that, and he knows that," Cowboys coach Wade Phillips said. "As far as the football part, we're trying to get him ready, and I think we will."

Jones is confident in his abilities and that he'll be reinstated. Jones even told Sanders that he could be the "Prime Time" of his generation. Jones certainly looks the part; he'll wear Sanders' old jersey No. 21. (Oh ya'll reaching now, I see.) confused

"I really just said, 'Prime, I know there's never going to be another you,' " Jones said. "But I really feel that I could be the new era of Prime Time. That's what all that is about."

"He tells me that all the time," Sanders said. "It's one thing to talk it, but it's another thing to want to put in the work."

Considering the fact that he has already served a full season suspension and lost all that time and money, I wonder why he isn't fully reinstated and given the chance to redeem himself. If there are convictions to held against Pacman, they should have happened already.

I agree, he should be fully reinstated and allowed to proceed to his next offense. lol

The worst thing about Pacman Jones is the fact that he's more infamous for his crimes and misdemeanors than he is for his football skills, seriously, I would not know about him were it not for his bullshit life and arrests.

It could've been Michael Irvin...

Deion's flashy and stuff, but he's nowhere near the trouble magnet that Pac was here in Tennessee.

Pac's trouble is with strip clubs. He likes the trouble there. He went to one, the night before his meeting with the NFL commish -- because of trouble he'd gotten into at another strip club. disbelief He needs to take up stamp collecting or something.

I'm inclined to agree. The thing that bothers me the most about Deion since he's retired is that he's the biggest apologist for knuckleheads. No matter what stupid shit DeAngelo Hall does, Deion has an excuse or explanation for it. By that standard, he shouldn't be allowed anywhere near Jones.

Being under the tutelage of Deion Sanders seemed to have worked GREAT for Devin Hester!!!

Trust me, Pacman could do a WHOLE lot worse!!!

Like I heard Tank Johnson has taken Pac under his wing, and he stays over his house from time to time!!!

Yeah Deion seems to be an apologist for all Knucklehead Cornerbacks, but he's probably the best to ever play his position. Off the field, Prime's a good dude, too.

I don't know about that off the field part though. I used to work for Deion his skeletons just didn't hit the front pages like everybody else's. confused
