When I first read the thread title I thought it said:
Was I ever Born I believe that if you are meant to be here you are meant and if not then no. Sure you could go generic and boil it down to biological penis/vag action but there is so much after that and it is up to us to discover our purpose 2010: Healing the Wounds of the Past.... http://prince.org/msg/8/325740

It's a Wonderful Life - ever see that old movie?
He asks the same question, what would it be like if I was never born? You touch more people's lives than you even know, when you stop and think about everyone you've come in contact with since you were a child it's a pretty intense thought. If you are feeling down here's a buck-up buckeroo...how can you not like the word "buckeroo"? It makes me smile like the word ishkabibble... [Edited 6/6/08 10:27am]

I will be honest..this is a question I ask myself alot! Being a child of adoption, and abuse..it's something that does cross my mind. But then I look at my beautiful children and that sweet grandbaby and I think, even if I wasn't really wanted at birth...I have plenty of people in my life that love me now. I am sorry you are feeling this way. Proud Memaw to Seyhan Olivia Christine ,Zoey Cirilo Jaylee & Ellie Abigail Lillian

I used to but now I know. I was born to be who I am in this moment in time and it the next moment and the next.
Your very exisitence is proof of this. hope you realize this and feel better...if not orgnote We all should know that diversity makes for a rich tapestry, and we must understand that all the threads of the tapestry are equal in value no matter what their color. Maya Angelou

I had those thought in my head as a child. Thankfully no longer. I was raised by 2 alcoholic parents, they never physically hurt me, but they emotionally did. I grew up to be semi-normal, and now have 4 wonderful kids and a husband who loves me. I pray your grey clouds go away. ![]()

I find myself wondering a lot lately...about a lot of things...it's only natural to wonder why we exist, if we have a purpose, if are we living up to our potential...I believe it's important to question our existence...not to the point that it becomes overly self deprecating...but in a manner that keeps us in touch with the reality that-wether we like it or not-our lives often have profound effects on those around us...
I also think that one can take soul searching a little too far...some allow themselves to become immersed in questions and doubts...it's important to not let the questions and the wonder separate you from the reality of the given situation...every question doesn't have an answer...sometimes, things can only be understood after the fact...in reflection...

Nancy, expand a bit please. Why are you questioning this right now? Ὅσον ζῇς φαίνου

i think asking why is a pitfall.
think about a random goose or a housefly or one of those feral cats in greece. why were they born? they're fortunate enough to be born without the impulse to fixate on this question. they really don't care. they just want to fly and honk and spread germs and steal food from tourists, and that's the end of it. why should there have been a reason for you to be born? what's the purpose of the rest of reality to your life? flip the script! all of this is my way of subverting the awful truth as to why i was born: i was born because my dad told my mom you couldn't get pregnant in a swimming pool.
