Have you ever seen 'The Professional'/'Leon'?

I saw the first 15 minutes or so, the other night and - setting aside the ridiculous dialog and an unintentionally hilarious performance from a scenery-chewing Gary Oldman - they should retitle this thing Pedophilia Lite.

Or does it suddenly transform into a stunning masterwork of intellectual heft at the 16 min. mark?

I will give Besson points for the cool shot where the title dude's coming over the rise and eventually Portman's head appears beside him, but a cool shot does not a worthwhile endeavor make (unless, of course, you're a pedophile and the "cool shot" for you is a lingering pan of a 12-year-old Natalie Portman's midriff that you can choke your chicken to).

I'm bored; indulge me.

I like it. Saw it a couple of times. I just like Jean Reno. I also liked him in The Big Blue.

As far as guys who are paid to say something someone's written down for them, in a manner that resembles spontaneity, he seemed likable. nod

Watch it. It's a great movie.

No-body jerked it to Natalie 'till Star Wars.

I *love* Le Grand Bleu. I saw it and Le Professional when I was living in France. I remember liking them both, but haven't watched Le Professional since then. I don't remember being skeeved out by it, but it was awhile ago. shrug

Oldman steals the show with his rant about Beethoven!

And yes, Portman was already hot in this movie.....but she really stole my heart in 'Beautiful Girls'.....shoot, if you want! shrug

Was one of my favourite films of that year. Great finale. I thought Oldman was ace in it too. Very menacing and callous.
