The nature of the questions appear to be personal just for the sake of making titilating tv, with no instructional or redeeming value for the audience. Personal to me means that if you're not a person who is intimately close to me and an important part of my life, why on EARTH should you be privy to those details in my relationships? Moreover, I am a staunch believer that if there are issues to be ironed out in private relationships they are best adressed in privacy between the adults or parties whose lives are directly affected. It's pretty gaudy in my view to throw oneself on national television to discuss something as important and life altering as conflict issues in marriage, or any other committed relationship...and let's not even address the idea that money, almost something akin to a betting pot is involved. But then again, I'm pretty old skool with regards to privacy and social ettiquette so

I don't think the show is all it appears. Don't they say they asked these questions already, and chose a sampling of certain ones?

That's how they know if she's lying, since she's not hooked up to a machine on the show itself.

So the tough questions should not be a surprise.
