Alex Rodriguez's bitter divorce took an ugly turn on Monday night when Team A-Rod accused his estranged wife of going on a spiteful spending spree in Paris.

Spurned spouse Cynthia Rodriguez used the Yankee slugger's credit card to the tune of $100,000 to punish him for a dalliance with Madonna that both he and the Material Girl deny, an A-Rod pal said.

"She's been spending wildly," the friend said. "She spent close to $100,000 on her jaunt to Paris."

Cynthia flew the godparents of her daughters, Dodd and Sabina Romero, and their older daughter, first-class to the City of Light, the friend said.

There, Cynthia "had spa treatments, she went to the best restaurants," the A-Rod friend said. "She originally was going to head to Spain, where Lenny Kravitz was touring."

In addition to embarrassing Rodriguez and feeding false rumors that she and the rocker were an item, Cynthia gave A-Rod a taste of the gouging to come, the friend said.

"She needs four lawyers in two different states?" asked the friend. "That's not the dream team, it's the greed team."

Also, the pal said, Cynthia has deliberately kept A-Rod from his daughters while tarring him as an absentee father.

"Alex desperately wanted to see his children while she was in Paris," the friend said. "She blocked him. She said, 'You cannot see them.'"

The onslaught from A-Rod's side came after Cynthia fired a legal beanball at the Yankee slugger, accusing him in divorce papers of "extramarital affairs" and calling their six-year marriage "irretrievably broken."

Cynthia, who is also seeking private school for the children and alimony, claimed she tried everything to save their marriage.

"The Petitioner has exhausted every effort to salvage the marriage of the parties. However, 'Alex' has emotionally abandoned his wife and children and has left her with no choice but to divorce him," the divorce papers filed in Miami-Dade County Family Court state.

Cynthia Rodriguez, 35, did not name names in her six-page petition.

Her lead lawyer, Earle Lilly, put the kibosh on speculation that Rodriguez scored with the Material Girl, calling it "an affair of the heart."

It wasn't "sexual infidelity," Lilly told People.com.

Still, that betrayal was "the last straw," Lilly said.

Cynthia Rodriguez's filing came after Madonna adamantly denied she broke up the Rodriguez marriage by using kabbalah to brainwash the 32-year-old slugger into believing they are soul mates.

Madonna, whose marriage to Guy Ritchie is also reportedly on the rocks, ignored reporters' questions as she left her Manhattan apartment, about an hour after getting a visit from actress Gwyneth Paltrow.

Instead, A-Rod's lawyers had a strategy session to plot their next move while conceding to Cynthia the first round of what is likely to be an ugly custody battle over Natasha and their other daughter, 11-week-old Ella.

"His children mean the world to him," said A-Rod spokesman Richard Rubenstein. "He's going to do everything possible to be there for them as they grow up."

Ira Elegant, Rodriguez's Miami lawyer, refused to discuss Cynthia's divorce filing, saying only, "Anyone can pay the filing fee and make allegations."

His first team was the Mariners who drafted him straight outta high school but I don't know how much money he had. When he came to Texas 2000 his contract was worth over $250 million (he got most but not all of it) then he got another contract with the Yankees in 2004 for $275 million. They got married in 2002. So I believe the law states that she's entitled to half of his money after they got married and the prenup only applies to what he already earned. If anyone knows this to be different please correct me.

Now, when he got married he KNEW his money would be jeopardized if he fucked up and if he didn't initiate a POST-nuptial with her. Therefore, he coulda prevented this by not cheating (which is preferable) or stemmed the bleeding by getting divorced sooner. So maybe she doesn't DESERVE all that but the law says she's ENTITLED to it so why should she accept less especially since he's been blatantly cheating all along.
