Is that the sequel to In the Mood For Love? eek

I didn't know it had a sequel! I saw In the Mood for Love in the theatres when it was released. It's SUCH a gorgeous movie. I'll have to look for this!

It is indeed the sequel. It's very different from In The Mood For Love though. Tony Leung's character is devastated over his perceived rejection by Maggie Cheung at the end of the first film and he writes a sci-fi novel about it. The movie jumps back and forth between the fictional novel and reality.

2010 - I thought it was great. Not the weird masterpiece of the original, but it was a great sci-fi movie.

ALIENS - I like the fact that James Cameron knew he couldn't just do an Aline part 2, and opted to make a different kind of movie than the original altogether. The first was a masterpiece, but essential a b-movie haunted house flick set to sci-fi and beautifully rendered backdrops. The second was shoot 'em up thriller. I thought the complimented each other beautifully. I wish this was true with Alien 3. I really wish David Fincher had been given a better script and story, and all the time he needed to make the flick.

A Very Brady Sequal - I'm sorry but falloff falloff falloff

The Empire Strikes Back - I don't care what anybody says, the first Star Wars movie was NOT great. The Empire Strikes back was a far better film.

Lord of The Rings 2 and 3. Each sequal was better than the movie before it. A bit over the top, but hey--it's a fantasy flick.

Throat gaggers 8. This one is far better than the previous 7. These girls sure can suck dick.

I think I am one of the few people who liked Alien 3. I think the problems were all over the place. I do disagree with allowing the Director more time. He had ALLL the time in the world and would use up a whole day for a 10 second shot that bascially put the movie way over budget.

Yes the Brady Sequel was a lot of fun.

I just didn't feel like posting a pic of Spider-Man 2 or Empire Strikes Back again. shrug

But I did think the future/retro contrast was very cool.

Of course Godfather II

Austin Powers TSWSM
National Lampoon Christmas Vacation LMAO
Batman Returns
Kill Bill 2
Friday After Next
Major League II (Very Funny film, I've heard people say that it's one of the worst sequels ever, but I disagree, the first Major League was a straight baseball film with a little bit of comedy, but not much, but ML2 is a baseball comedy that stands totally independent from the first)

Wasn't the elevated train fight scene filmed in Chicago? It certainly wasn't filmed in NYC. Was it supposed to be the green line? Or Metro North maybe?

the fight scenes in 'batman begins' were shot in chicago. i don't remember if any spidey stuff was shot there.

i love kill bill 2, though i always have to remind myself it's a sequel, instead of part two of a big long movie that got chopped in half and released in segments. i wish they'd stitch the movie back together and release it on one big fat dvd. nod

I'm surprised at the love for 'Batman Returns'. Big disappointment, IMO, mainly because of Danny DeVito. This could have been a classic if it was a solid story featuring Batman & Catwoman. Was it Burton's choice to go with two villains, or some studio suit?

Besides the terrific ones mentioned already:

Before Sunset
Blue in the Face
The Two Jakes--not nearly the level of Chinatown, but enjoyable nonetheless
Star Trek IV

probably a studio decision, since the first batman movie was the only one to have only one villain, and even in that one they seemed to be setting up the harvey dent character.

i was impressed with danny de vito as the penguin, and i thought the costume and makeup design was pure beautiful hideous tim burton at his best.

i like this movie because it worked so well in bringing together tim burton's dark/whimsical sensibilities with the comic book style of batman. i think it was even better realized than his first batman film.

the first one was fun, and better than any of the joel schlockmaker sequels, but yeah - too much was riding on the franchise for WB to let tim burton let his freak flag fly too high, and it does feel stifled as a result. the sequel feels like tim burton telling WB, "toldja so...now let me do my thing." lol

Spider-Man 2 is easily the best Marvel film ever. nod

At least before Iron Man anyways.

I haven't seen Iron Man yet, but I can't believe it's as good as Spider-Man 2. The first two Spidey movies are easily my 2 favorites based on comics.

It was more creative than the first. nod With everything going for it (Keaton, Basinger, Nicholson, Prince, Burton) I found it disappointing. I like it a little more in retrospect.

And indeed, 3 & 4 are among my least favorite films of all time!

It's as if he made a mistake and made the sequel to Batdance instead of Batman.

That's because of The Ass Known as Joel Schumacher. I knew the franchise was in trouble when JS said, "It's time Bruce Wayne got over the death of his parents", and that he wanted to make Batman "fun again". I wanted to kick his ass when I heard that sh!t. It shows he has no idea of what Batman is about, and no respect for comic-book writers. Thank goodness Chris Nolan gets it. We want the Frank Miller Dark Knight, not Adam West.

adam west batman is still better than joel whorehopper batman. at least the 60s series was fun to look at and had a great sense of campy style. whenever THAT series comes out on DVD, i'll excitedly grab 'em right up. nod

There was one episode in the TV series when Alfred dressed as Batman because Bruce Wayne and Batman had to appear at the same place at the same time. Commissioner Gordon told Robin (I think) that Batman wasn't looking like his usual robust self and to make sure he was eating all his vegetables. In retrospect I find that very funny, but when I first saw it as an 8-year old, I was like confused

Yeah, the Green Goblin -- specifically, that motionless mask -- was my only problem with that movie. But I can overlook it.
