What do you do when your 12 yr old has sex? If you just found out your 12 yr old daugher had sex? How would you feel? What would you do? Who's fault is this. Especially if she has been educated by parents, school, church of the dangers of sex and that she is not mature enough to engage. Stand Up! Everybody, this is your life!

Moderator | Tell her to wait till she's older. That she can always come to you no matter what you will not get mad.
Find out who the boy is and talk to his parents. Unfortunately teens are having sex earlier than their parents. Too young for the birth control pill. Ohh purple joy oh purple bliss oh purple rapture! Man, that's a tough one. My daughter is almost 12.
First of all, I'd call a meeting with the parents of the boy. Surely they have some culpability. At minimum, you can threated statutory rape charges. That ought to keep the boy away. But I guess it all comes back to the parents. More needs to be done.

It's not because he's a boy that he was the one pushing for sex ... I think an open conversation with the boys parents can clear the skies up. Trying to put culpability on their shoulders is rather narrow me thinks. Making it clear that it is not OK to have sex at that age and maybe point out what the risks are - again - together (as in 'in team') with the other parent pair is the best you can do imho [Edited 5/19/08 14:57pm]

By "(b)ut I guess it all comes back to the parents. More needs to be done." I mean the parents of the girl. Her parents need to do more with regard to sex education.

First off, step away from the blame game. It is what it is.
Talk to her. Ask her to talk about how she is feeling. Tell her how you feel about it. Ask questions, give facts and do not threaten anything at all. The last thing you want to do is push her away.

I have 15 yo and an 11 yo daughters and I have no advice.
I talk to my daughters regularly. I have let them know that NO MATTER how mad they think I will be, they can talk to me about ANYTHING. And still, if one of them came to me and told me they were having sex...My heart would be broken...12. SO YOUNG!!! I live in a county that was in the top 5 for teenage pregnancies IN THE NATION. I see babies having babies all the time. It is SO hard on such a young woman's body. She herself is still growing and maturing. And even having sex w/out getting pregnant at that age is so beyond what they are mature enough to handle...even if THEY would disagree with that. Definately have the young lady checked for preg. and std's as Rachel3 suggested and definately discuss the situation with her. Bringing the young man's family into the discussion may be beneficial as well. Good luck! I'm firmly planted in denial

But I guess it all comes back to the parents. More needs to be done. that's just ridiculous No, it's not. Any individual can be found guilty of statutory rape, whether or not they are an adult. All that is required is sex with someone not of the age of consent. There can be mitigating circumstances, but generally the law can be applied. I'm not advocating a prosecution. But I remember what happened to a dude I knew in high school that had sex with a 16-year-old. Her father mentioned statutory rape, and NO ONE ever DREAMED of coming close to his daughter again. It takes two to tango, and that dude's case, that took care of part one. The second part is that the parents did not do enough to educate their daughter about the responsibility that comes with an active sex life. While I am not exactly 180 degrees from Erin's advice, I darn sure think the wrath of an angry parent needs to be part of the solution. Sugarcoating this deal ain't gonna solve it.

The 12 year-old daughter of the lady that used to do my hair is sexually active and it turned out that she had an STD. Apparently, her and all her lil girlfriends were fucking the same lil boy so they ALL got the STD. Strange days. . .

What the fuck? I don't understand this. 12-year-old kids having sex is WRONG. There is no justification for it. NONE. Any parent that does NOT teach their kids this is not doing their job as a parent.
