All of the songs that she sang in that session were amazing. Here's my first fave.

Anyhoo...I can't even watch the other clips. That was when the heroin started and the downfall began. Such a waste.

I was viewing celebrity sites over the weekend, and the recent pics, plus the video clip, had me cringing. Amy's arms are scratched up, she looks like she hasn't bathed, and lacks personal hygiene.
She seems pretty far gone. Look how dirty and disgusting the fingers are, in the mouse scenes.
confused

They're scratched because she self harms confused I dont know about the bathing but I think its the least of her worries to be honest.

She's also had an admitted body-issue problem for years, alternating between bullemia and anorexia. In this last year since she got married she's taken to "self-harming" (i.e. she's a cutter). Her parents are divorced, and while the father always says, don't worry, she's going to be on the mend soon, the mother (who's ill with MS) tells everything like it is, and has declared she would like to see the kid divorced from the husband, and placed in a facility to handle her layers of issues. Putting her away and getting her clean wouldn't be in so many people's best interest though, I doubt we'll see a clean Winehouse anytime soon.

These street drugs are so horrible. They can reduce a human being to virtually nothing. Heroin is the street drug of choice over here in the EU more than crack. It's nearing an epidemic, not as bad as it was in 1970's Harlem, but more like the early 90's when it was fashionable, until, well... it WASN't. Back then I was running in fashion circles from the "GIA" era into the "Grunge" era, and the way usuage was so casually accepted (or at least hidden or excused by powermongers) was horrifying. Seeing it that closely was the most powerful PSA I ever needed to be scared to death of drugs: it's so ugly...just so, so, so, ugly...you're right. That girl is far gone. Period.

She's become a poster girl for staying away from "H", crack, and whatever else she's putting in her body.
At this rate, she isn't long for this world, sadly.

Before he went in, he came to one of her last shows in Brighton and her father went straight for Pete and knocked the hell out of him and then clocked him with a guitar. Told him to stay away from his daughter and that he was not allowed at her shows. As you can see, when kids aren't around their parents their authority doesn't necessarily stick. Since Pete got out of jail they've been carrying on together as if nonthing's happened in the past year. Drugs suck.

I always wonder, what leads a person to want to get into the hard stuff? The road is littered with so many people who don't make it after they try it, what makes a person say, ok,to hell with it, this might kill me but it's worth the momentary high? neutral

I'm no psychiatrist but they say that a lot of people who self medicate and self-mutilate may have been molested as children. I'm not saying everyone.

Once you start taking heroin, there's the physical addiction that has to be maintained, to avoid withdrawal...which can be fatal, with seizures, vomiting, etc. It depends on the age and health of the individual, and best done under medical supervision.

What gets people to take that 1st hit, although it's a one way street, is beyond me. Some street drugs that are inhaled, have heroin mixed in, and the individual may not know that's what he/she is doing....

You know in most EU cities you always have a sector where H junkies hang out. There's a kind of numbed familiarity I feel when I see people on H...here in Germany we have rehab programs for them, which makes it all the more baffling why they can't let it go. I ride the subway every day, and there are certain stops where you see them plain as day, begging for change, itching and scratching, with their pets in tow. I'm used to seeing them nod out or ask you to buy them an ice cream if you refuse them change. Like I said, when I was younger working for some Italian fashion magazines, there was a sort of epidemic amongst models and nightclub impressarios, I didn't get to see them in withdrwal but they still scared the hell out of me. Then a couple years ago I went to a local premiere here for an American movie, right in the posh area of town. There was a junkie that chose to go through his withdrawl right at the front walkway of the theatre in front of a fashion showroom. He was half naked lying on the concrete with vomiting, the sweats, the shits, convulsing, ALL of it, and he wailed and screamed for a fix. His scream was so blood curdling it was one of the most frightening, pitiful things I had ever seen...I've often heard of people knocking this thing out cold turkey? (although the process is compared to living hell). I didn't know his back story, I didn't judge, but I just walked away praying that he would make it through the night without another hit and wake up knowing he could get through the day without that monkey on his back... neutral

People take the first hit because, no matter how many examples they've seen of the horrors of drug abuse, they never believe it will happen to THEM.

Also, for some...those who may be self medicating...the high..the escape...and the consequences are far better and more acceptable than the personal, emotional hell they live in.

It's not just molestation victims that self medicate. Many with undiagnosed psychiatric issues do as well.

It's a sad, sad situation.
