Imago said: superspaceboy said: So would you say Ning is a combo of Tribe and Facebook? It sounds a LOT like Tribe, which is going the way of Friendster, IMO. And it's unfortuneate...I liked Tribe. I think the biggest issues they had was the way in which they rolled out new and terrible designs, added a lot more in your face advertising and stopped people from posting sexual content. There were also internal struggles. It's very much like a combo of Tribe, Yahoo 360 and myspace. Customizable ... you can pimp it out. And like the critic in that bigass post above about facebook says, it has the ability to set up relationships with folks that aren't just binary--more in line with real life social groups. But the blogging and message board features are really really handy. And I like the interface. No!! Don't tell Bob about Ning!! Let him do that wiki thing...that ain't going nowhere anyway...

Sorry if I've 'overwhelmed' the thread, I just thought that guy made some good points. But I agree those 'experts' still have to master the art of the soundbite.
In short, it's about how Facebook offers a simplistic, superficial take on friendship, and tries to lock up its members in its own system. And I hope you didn't toil through this all night:).. chillichocaholic said: Ohhhh God now u want me to read a novel on the subject flo6 Im gonna be here all night

Dismissing your own topic, and one treated by a compatriot at that?! - the guy is from Queensland University of Technology in Brisbane.
But yes ok, who cares:) chillichocaholic said: Flo6 said: Sorry if I've 'overwhelmed' the thread, I just thought that guy made some good points. But I agree those 'experts' still have to master the art of the soundbite.
