I am shocked and amazed!!! And oddly, it felt right. Anja was horrid in her covergirl pic and her catwalk...this was her competition to loose and she did.

And Whitney rocked it!!!

she doesn't even look remotely plus size.....

Toccara still rocks....

the thinner version

Mmm-kay...it's annoying that these people expect these girls to become America's Next Top Supermodel...

These girls are probably pulling in 200 to 300K a year...I have a friend whose sister was pulling in 500K a year and she isn't anywhere near famous. These girls do well...

It's called America's Next TOP Model. lol How many of them ever did any REAL high fashion shows? And after their contracts expire, their agencys aren't that happy to renew them. And for good reason. None of them ever land campaigns or editiorials or ads (except the ones that come with winning ANTM), and none of them go and do runway for any major designer. After the first couple of months, they've all basically faded, and they move on to the next cycle. With the notoriety they recieved from the show, you'd think some of them can pull a big job just from their name, but no. And whenever you see The Tyra Show and she brings back former contestants and winners, many of them have moved on from modeling, and the ones that are persuing it, are landing mediocre jobs. So much for TOP model. biggrin

I think they wanted the plus size chick to win to prove some point.

Every cycle since Tyra demanded that we kiss her fat ass, I've predicted that the plus-sized girl (fuck the nouveau lingo) will take it. I refrained this time and whadda ya know: the plus-sized girl took it! How do you like them buxom apples?

I'd call this a symbolic victory, but this is ANTM: if it's not symbolic, it's as good as symbolic. However, earlier this week, I received an email from a source that would like to remain nameless (and, clearly, close to my heart) that suggests this victory is super-symbolic The mystery woman writes:

I debated on whether to share this given my source and you may have heard this already...The source is this wonderfully chatty boy in one of my classes...who says he went to high school with Whitney. The claim is that Whitney did not try out for top model but was approached on a plane by someone from the show. She was already doing modeling as a size 2 or 4 but because she was closer to a 4 she was a little too big for the show as a regular model. They told her that if she went and gained 10-20 pounds they would definitely put her on the show as "the plus-size model". She's about a 6 or 8 on the show. He even showed us this picture of her when she was smaller which was from a year ago.

He also said that she was going to make the top 3. That's why I held out from saying anything for 3 weeks. I wasn't sure if anything was credible. But since the "top 3" thing came through...

This email arrived, mind you, before the pre-ANTM shots of a much slimmer Whitney hit ONTD:

I wouldn't be surprised at all if it were true (knowing nothing about women's sizes, I'd guess close to a 4 is about right in those shots). At the very least, the pictures tend to refute Whitney's sob stories (heard most recently in the final moments of the show) about being teased for being curvaceous. Of course, given that it's at least third-hand information, this could merely be one of those things that make you go hmmm.

In any event, none of this is to diminish Whitney's hard work standing around and being fierce. Having the plus-sized girl win is a nice touch, and I'm never mad at a good plot point, no matter how contrived.

you do realize that danelle and cari dee both had their contracts renewed, right? and like i said, my buddy's sister is making a killing in modeling and we never see her name...it's all relative...these aren't the eighties days anymore.

i am sure each of the winners are happy with their careers...even though folks like you arent. lol

No, they are saying that she was not always "plus sized"...that she did some modeling at a much smaller size before going on the show - and here are the pics to prove it.

She has modeled for the New York Post (Tempo),[9] US Weekly,[10] and In Touch Weekly magazines and made appearances on talk shows Live With Regis and Kelly, 106 & Park, TRL,[11], The View, modeling a dress designed by Elizabeth Hasselbeck[12] and Jensen! (Dutch Talkshow).[13]

She was "La Madrina" of the Annual National New York City Puerto Rican Day Parade held June 16, 2007, appearing in a yellow convertible that paraded alongside the car carrying Daddy Yankee.[14]

Gonzalez hosted several style spots for CoverGirl TV, including segments titled "Summer Goddess", "Day To Night" and "Jaslene's Glamorous Nights" and has modeled for Ximena Valero as well as being honored at the 1st Annual Chicago Latino Fashion Week.[15] She had a 5-page spread in the issue of Vibe Vixen magazine, Named One Of Latina Magazine's Latinas Of the Year, was on a 6-page spread for Colures (U.K fashion Magazine) and was featured on Trace (magazine): Model Behaviour as Falls new faces. Gonzalez also walked for Ashley Paige in Mercedes Benz Fashion Week Miami Swim 08 and was on the catwalk for the Armani Exchange line. In addition she received a showcard from elite (a huge deal for any model even more impressive especially for an ANTM contestant) and walked at Mercedes-Benz New York Fashion Week Spring/Summer 2008.[16]

Gonzalez was a nominee for the 2007 Teen Choice Awards, under the category "Choice TV: Female Reality/Variety Star," but did not win the award. She has also been featured on COACD, fashionista.com and WWD (Women's Wear Daily).

Jaslene partnered up with Liz Claiborne and the National Domestic Violence Hotline, to spread awareness about teen dating violence, for the Love Is Not Abuse campaign.[17]

She has been on numerous covers of magazines such as, Latina, Hombre, 6 Degrees, FN, Seventeen, Urban Latino, Bleu, Vanidades, Chicago Scene[18] and Time Out.[19][20] She is featured on the cover of Metrostyle Catalog.[21] She has also appeared in an ad campaign for Lot29 F/W 07-08 and has a Billboard in Times Square.[22]

Women's Wear Daily (WWD) said the following about Gonzalez:[23]

When 20-year-old Jaslene Gonzalez won season eight's "America's Next Top Model," Lot29 executives knew they had their next face. They seem to have chosen correctly. Gonzalez did so well for the brand last season, the company asked her back to endorse the product for spring.

Also, she will get a second Billboard in New York. Gonzalez has a two page fashion spread in the new issue of Seventeen Magazine.[24]Gonzalez walked at Mercedes-Benz New York Fashion Week Fall/Winter 2008-09 for Armani Exchange and Project Runway finalist Jillian Lewis.[25][26] She has modeled for the Amaya swimwear line at the BET 'Rip the Runway' fashion show.

Jaslene filmed her first official CoverGirl commercial, which is now airing in Europe, Latin America and on Spanish-language channels. She shot a cameo in the John Leguizamo film Humboldt Park.[27] She also shot an ad campaign for online retailer ShopBop and has an 8-page fashion spread for Chicago Scene Magazine. In addition, Jaslene has renewed her contract with CoverGirl and she is also featured in the pages Living Proof Magazine.[28]

lol

She's actually gorgeous. My issue was that when she posed she looked like she was posing and it looked phony. She looks better in these to me because she's not giving you Miss America.
