So I just came from Iron Man and all I have to say is....(SPOILER WARNING) NOPE!
Cool movie but not in any league as the last Batman movie or even Superman Returns. Robert Downey Jr was cool, but seemed to play the same wise cracking character as all his other films. The fight scenes were so so and once again they made Arabs look dumb. here's looking forward to The Dark Knight.

I saw What happens in vegas ... yesterday, it was pretty funny
The preview for Hancock looked pretty good though ...oh and some other one with Adam Sandler in it [Edited 5/11/08 18:46pm]

Its pure Iron Man...The casting was superb and it didn't suffer from the same ailment Spiderman does in which the hero's mask is off all the damn time (though it did happen here as well but not as much as Spiderman.) Downey IS Tony Stark...that is why he was casted...He played it like I would hope it would be played and I really didn't dig the last Batman movie...it was ok but too long and was trying to be too real imo. It lost something in the execution. But I think Iron Man is the best thing Marvel has put out to date (and compared to the other movies that's not saying much.) clever clever quotation - attention getting quote - sad yet witty remark - look at me! Im deep quote- song lyric about my ex cause that bitch stole my mp3 player! - line from movie I liked - Prince lyric - not very clever sig mocking other sigs

I enjoyed it a lot. I don't think it was better than the first two Spider-Man movies or the first X-Men movie, but it was good. Robert Downey Jr. did an amazing job as Tony Stark. Jeff Bridges was great too.
The biggest negative for me was Gwyneth Paltrow. She just doesn't have an ounce of sex appeal. But even worse, she's practically lethargic throughout the whole movie. Was she heavily medicated throughout filming? Because the girl never once ran, even when she was supposed to be running for her life.

exactly!!! You was the most useless character in this movie. The biggest negative for me was Gwyneth Paltrow. She just doesn't have an ounce of sex appeal. He doesnt have super powers so it has to be real. All the Marvel heroes have super powers so you have to exhaust that aspect cuz that's all they have. And as for Supes, even tho the whole son thing kinda annoyed me, I could tolerate it tho since the rest of the film was pretty good, from a film maker's point of view. look, as long as it wasnt anything like Batman and Robin especially that scene where they ended up "surfing" thru the sky. now that was something straight outta the 60s comics.

All Bats has got is a brilliant mind, his belt of tricks and a bad attitude.

To me, Marvel tended to have heroes you wouldn't really want to be. Tony Stark's heart thing is just gross. Who wants to have a big whole in the chest? Flying around in a big metal suit would be awesome, but that's a high price to pay. And it would suck big time to be The Thing. Even turning into the Hulk wouldn't be too good. But maybe that's just me; I like the lazy approach to being a hero. Superman doesn't have to do a damn thing to be the most powerful person on the planet; he can just hang out and get some sun.

what was the preview? I think it was for the Avengers I think? (don't follow Ironman comics), but Samuel Jackson is the guy that recruits him. He is wearing a patch over his eye. What Twiki said [Edited 5/12/08 9:02am]

In case you guys are really interested in what you missed, here's the full recap:
Tony walks in to his house and his computerized assistant, Jarvis, fizzles out. Nick Fury is standing in his living room. Nick Fury: "I am Iron Man." You think you're the only superhero in the world? Mr. Stark, you've become part of a bigger universe. You just don't know it yet. Tony Stark: Who the hell are you? Nick Fury: Nick Fury, Director of S.H.I.E.L.D. Tony Stark: [nonchalantly] Ah. Nick Fury: I'm here to talk to you about the Avengers Initiative. That's the end.

It wasn't? This is the setup for the Avengers movie in a few years with Iron Man, Hulk, Thor and Captain America. Marvel will try to get the actors to play the same roles in all the films--unlike what DC is doing with their Justice League movie. I knew Marvel was thinking about possibly doing an Avengers film, but that teaser at the end told me they are serious about it. I thought it was cool.

With the Justice League, that shit needs to be RIGHT! I mean, not just anybody can be cast as Superman or Wonder Woman. Just the fall out from a mis-cast Batman would shut down the East Coast of the United States.

The thing was....it was too short....nice tease....but too short...you have to wait through a shitload of credits before it even pops up and after all of that... I definately thought it could have been a smidge longer.... will be cool though...I really dig RD Jr as Tony Stark..this character will be his legacy....

It's true that the characters in the Avengers don't have the history and aren't as well known as the big three in the Justice League. But I like the idea of at least trying to get the same actors to appear in all the films. Then it's like a real crossover and connected universe. Downey already has a cameo as Tony Stark in next month's Hulk movie. And in my opinion, Batman was already miscast. I never thought Christian Bale looked right.

His comic likeness was based on Samuel Jackson so having him play Nick in the movies is a no-brainer. Better Jackson than David Hasselhoff like in that old TV movie.

Sorry.
Couldn't DISAGREE with you more. Easily the best Marvel movie to date. Better than both Spider-Man and X-Men outings by FAR. I thought the movie was FLAWLESS. It flows smoothly, tells the story expertly, was cast and acted amazingly, and looks F-ING RIDICULOUS. I'm ready to turn over the directing keys to the kingdom to Favreau. Well done. The ONLY superhero movie that was better is Batman Bagins and i'm waiting to see how the Dark Knight is going to fare on my list. But if you'd told me before i saw Iron Man that i'd rank it that highly, i'd have told you that you were crazy. http://www.facebook.com/p...111?ref=ts

The character of Pepper Potts is his "girl Friday". She's not supposed to be "dripping with sex appeal". That's not the point of his attraction to her. As a matter of fact that's part of the reason he IS attracted to her is the simple fact that she's NOT like every other chick he takes to bed. And who f-ing cares if she ran or not? http://www.facebook.com/p...111?ref=ts
