I am hooked on the Dr. Laura show

I really hate this witch. She's impatient and bossy and rude. BUT sometimes her callers need that This is something that really pains me to say but through her crappy approach, she has a lot of good advice. There are some of her theories around marriage and sexual interaction that I don't and won't agree with but as a future counselor I find that some of her advice very useful.

I know exactly what you mean. It's oddly addictive even though I really want to hate her. And some of those callers are so damn dumb that you just can't wait for her to smack them down.

I loved listening to Dr. Laura. Though I think here lately she's showing signs of needing to retire cause her fuse has gotten a bit short. But her advice especially when it comes to her no nonsense approach to being a parent to your kids is priceless. She pulls no punchs and takes no excuses. In fact I gained a bit of strength listening to her when mine where young, and I waivered on going with the "popular" things to do as oppose to what my own thoughts said to do. Can't say I agree with her on a lot of things but I can respect her.

Not to worry! Now, go do the right thing.

I hate her guts and her romance/love advice is really but I listen all the time.

I use to listen to her often YEARS ago. While driving around with my son in the car one day... she was going on about if you are a teenage pregnant girl, you must give up your child for adoption, no matter what...no exception. I gave birth to my son at the age of 17, and when he heard this, he made the saddest little face (he was 6 at the time) and said to me, "Dr. Laura thinks you should have given me away?" It broke his little heart. I explained that he was the love of my life,and that I was proud to be his Mom and that I am glad I never had anyone in my life at that time telling me to put him up for adoption. That was the last time I listened to her. By the way, she lives here in Santa Barbara, and tapes her show here.

And I think she is totally full of shit that women should be bound to their kids until they are 18 without having a life for themselves, although I do agree that women need to keep their dating life separate from the kids if they are just in it for fuckin or not for marriage. Kids don't need the drama of a mom's love life complicating things. On that I agree with her.

How do I tell my mom that I don't want to hear certain things from her? For example, if we are at the dinner table alone she asks about this guy that I'm dating and asking if we've had sex or not and that I should pursue him if interested

i loathe ALL talk radio political pundit types. their cloying voices are like fingernails on a chalkboard to me, and i don't understand how anyone can get anything even remotely resembling valuable information from those shows. it's just shameless pandering. i can't tell the difference between rush limbaugh and air america. they say the same crap, they just insert different names in the blanks.

The woman was fretting woefully over the fact that her boyfriend was attending a wedding alone and did not invite her and she wanted to know if Dr. Laura could tell her if that was a sign of the end of their relationship.

One thing I like about Dr. Laura is her ability to cut through to the chase. She did that with this woman by asking a few questions and by the time the call was through, the caller had revealed that she did not like the woman that was getting married and that her boyfriend had previously said he didn't want to involve his girlfriend since she did not like the woman and didn't want his girlfriend having a bad time at the wedding.

so she is the one who created the issue in the first place and her boyfriend was simply looking out for her feelings. The caller flipped it all on the boyfriend and Dr. Laura flipped it right back on her, rightfully so. I love when she does that.
