Same here in the Glass City -- $3.79 for gas. Did that on Thursday. I was on fumes -- 11.7xx gallons (12 gallon tank) and racked up a $44.50 bill. Never paid that much for gas ever in my lifetime.
For the past month I have been filling up about half-tank full and that has gotten me by, but had to fill up because this weekend traveling home to see mom for Mother's Day. I would have filled up late Wednesday night -- $3.49 or $3.53. Wow, a bargin, but in 10 hours the price shot up to $3.79.

Sorry, I know but us Yanks are going through this crisis. Don't worry, in about a year to 2 years we will be paying upwards of $9-10 for unleaded petrol. Forecasting stats say that by 2012 in America, unleaded regular gallon (not litre) of gas might cost $11-12. [Edited 5/10/08 11:54am]

We are used to it, since we are dependant to gas-/petrol- producing nations such as the US, Russia, the Mid-East, etc.... I believe that the US always have had a lot of influence on these prices, maintaining them low for their own market....Now that the US-economy is slow (I wouldn't want to call it a real recession yet, but it's getting there), you see what the rest of the world has seen for years already for decades.....$4/gallon is a joke, y'all are just a bit spoiled or not used to it yet. In the 19 years that I am driving a car now I have seen the gas-prices increase with 110% over here, now it's your turn as well.....and we'll just ride along, only we've stopped whining.

That's not a lot. Where I live in central Europe the average price is about USD$8 a gallon...but it's always been like that, we're used to it..I have to doublecheck, but I think my colleauges in the UK pay approx. $10-12 per gallon. Now THAT's insane .

$3.99
I don't think it's broken the $4 mark yet, but I imagine it will soon. It keeps jumping back up to $3.99 "Try to remember how you used to feel about me
and think about how you're treating me now. Then try to reconcile them, if you can. But you don't even remember, do you?"

right, but you guys don't fight wars, station military bases, and subsidize Arab governments to keep your gas prices down. we do. come on! let's see some results! "Try to remember how you used to feel about me

It's not about that, it's that the demand:supply ratio is now so imbalanced that even the US, which effectively operates a completely counter-free market price mechanism on gas prices, is having to raise prices. They are still ridiculously low and do not reflect global free market oil prices though, which will bite you in the ass even harder, long-term. If your gas prices were actually 'real' the US Economy would be in deep recession. [Edited 5/10/08 15:05pm]
