Seasoning your food before you taste it is a massive insult to the chef.....would never consider it and when people do it to me i tend to let them know i am insulted.

So you have strong feelings about this topic?

I do when i cook.....so be aware that IF you did it to me then you may end up with a fishslap

Yes I do. But most of my seasoning is done while cooking.

Is the same true with your use of brown sugar when you bake?

Unless I'm told otherwise, I'll assume for everyone who responds that the same is true for pepper?

Or would that be presumptuous of me?

No

Pepper is often used as a seasoning spice and added before taste

Same here. Only put salt on fries...nothing else.

But I do love pepper and I don't taste first.

Sometimes, salting before tasting is appropriate. If you're having corn on the cob, for example. And I nearly always salt french fries before I taste them.

Otherwise, no. Taste first, then salt - if necessary.

Depends. When it's my mom's cooking, I automatically add salt, because she doesn't cook with salt. She does that too.
I do the same with the food I cook.
When it's someone I don't know, who cooked the food, I'd taste it first an then decide if it needs salt or not.
