I am totally PISSED at TurboTax Okay, so I was supposed to get my stimulus money yesterday because I had my refun direct deposited. Thought it was strange that it didn't come in so I did a little diging this morning. I found out that anyone who used TurboTax on-line and had TurboTax fees taken out of their refund will not be getting their refunds direct deposit. Because of some third party bank crap, the IRS apparently did not get my banking info so they have to mail me my check. That won't be until June 20 which completely sucks.
I made a stupid mistake in that I spent some money I wouldn't have usually spent this month because I had no reason to believe I would not be getting my stimulus money. Me and my wife filed jointly and with the two rugrats we were due $1800. So I got my eyes checked and fixed something in my car that could have waited and spent a little bit more on my daughter's birthday presents than I would have usually. All because I trusted TurboTax and the IRS websites that guarenteed that stimulus money or direct deposit tax filers was coming May 9th. Now I'm a bit screwed, all because I used TT on-line instead of buying it at the store. And TurboTax has nothing but some weak ass "we didn't know...our bad!" crap on the web site. They are going to lose a lot of customers because of this. This story will get some major press in the next few days as people who were expecting the stimulus money will have to wait over a month longer than they expected. it's awful.

I assume/hope this doesn't apply to people who didn't have to pay fees. I used TaxActonline, but it's free, so I'm hoping to get mine on time? Ought to be this week. :fingerscrossed: "Try to remember how you used to feel about me
and think about how you're treating me now. Then try to reconcile them, if you can. But you don't even remember, do you?"

But, you've. "Gotta-Let-it-go" Never. I am making it my mission to destroy them. They screwed up. I did too. I admit it. One should never spend money before they have it and I did and I deserve bashing for that. But I had my taxes in earlier this year than ever...and I feel like I'm being punished because TurboTax was very shortsighted. And the fact that they are completely unapologetic about it and not trying to figure out a solution is what pisses me off the most. This boo-boo of theirs likely affects millions of taxpayers. I think it applies to any software that uses a bank to handle your deposit for you.
Turbotax uses Santa Barbara Bank, which are the folks who actually cut you the check into your bank account I believe. I kind of figured as much when I didn't get my check yesterday. I'll have to wait till June 6, which is fine. I want to save up money anyways, and use to that for my vacation in England when I'm not having buttsex.

yeah, really... did anyone know that the refunds were deposited in the bank accounts of these online tax preparers before they were sent on to who they belonged to? what's to stop them from just keeping them? "Try to remember how you used to feel about me

DAMN, I had to hear about this from a third party, I did Turbo Tax too!? What a swift kick in the nuts, I'll be waiting for it in June. Since my economic life is in shambles anyway, what's three more weeks waiting for $600? Jeux Sans Frontiers

I used online TurboTax program, paid for the svc charge w/my credit card rather than having them take it out of my refund (it was a LOT more expensive to have them take it out of the refund anyway), did direct deposit--got my incentive yesterday.
I think that's the key--pay separately for using TurboTax AKA, AnotherLoverToo

yeah...its just any tax preparer that uses another bank this includes H&R block.
Its not their fault that you spent money ahead of time. Your check is still coming [Edited 5/11/08 8:20am]

Welllll....I went to Jackson Hewitt and my direct deposit was handled by Santa Barbara Bank and today is May 11th and I haven't seen anything yet either, was supposed to be May 09th, so guess that means that anyone who did direct deposit with anyone other than the IRS will be waiting for a check ..... Okay, here's my deal. I did not deserve this.Allow me to elaborate.
I am 36. I, like many of you, have worked hard most of my life. Since I was 15, I have never not had a job. I worked through college, worked immediately out of college and work every day, calling in sick only when I'm really really sick. (I went to work with an inflamed appendix, if that says anything about me). That being said, I screwed up financially by taking on much more debt than I should have. I wanted my wife to take a year off so she could spend some time with our first child and it broke our back but I never regret it. We refinanced our house and got a crappy ARM which has doubled our mortgage. At one time, I had 9 payday loans out just to survive. In 2006, we surrendered and went Chapter 13. I have been faithful and not missed a single payment and I am three years out from being free. I continue to work hard as does my wife but even with all of our debts in Chapter 13, we live hand to mouth with no savings to speak of. Fast forward to this rebate thing. I didn't ask for it but damn it, like many, I deserve it. I've earned it. If the government is going to give me money that I have paid out and earned, then I am going to take it, damn it. So I follow the IRS web site and it says if you direct deposited your refund, you get money on May 9. So I believe that and depend on that. Because for one damn month I will actually have some money left over. And I start to dream. And I pay some things that I have to be paid out of money that I think will be replenished on May 9. Nothing for me. I didn't go out and buy fancy stuff or even practical stuff. I just took care of a couple of things and then the air conditioner screwed up and then this happened and that happened and I said, "It's okay, because I will get my rebate on the 9th". This is what kills me. I'm pretty much screwed for the month now. Screwed until June 20, which means every day waking up and trying to figure out how the hell I'm going to make things work. Me and my wife my 86 K a year and because of an outrageous mortgage and other things not a damn thing to show for it. If I would have paid TurboTax fees by credit card, I would have gottten the money. If I would have bought the damn box at the store I would have gotten the money. But I paid my fees with my federal refund because, believe this or not, I didn't think it prudent to spend $34.95 on my debit card at the time I did my taxes. 35 dollars than equals 1800 dollars now. And I kick myself and I'm pissed with myself but these are the kinds of decisions I have to make every damn day. And TurboTax's response of "Oops"is that much more infuriating because I know there are millions of people out there like me, people who work hard and trusted a product and are suffering because of it. Yeah, I'll get my check next month and yeah I'm grateful and yeah I have dug my own holes but I have to tell you when you have to worry every single day about every dollar you spend a month is an eternity. I'll shut up now...I am just tired of life kicking my ass. All good things they say never last...
