Moderator | Your link isn't working for me.
Here is a story on it though: http://www.baltimoresun.c...9256.story , but after those 3rd graders, can't say I'm surprised. In spite of the cost of living, it's still popular. |

#1 On the individual. I am a firm believer that you can lead a horse to water, but you can't make him drink. Some kids are bad, regardless of how good or bad a household they come from. I have seen good kids come from bad homes and bad kids come from good homes. Bad homes don't help the situation any, though.
#2 parents HAVE TO ENFORCE ACCOUNTABILITY. No excuses for what a kid has done, no getting them out of trouble with minimal consequinces. When I was a kid and my teacher said I did something...I did it...and it was MY ASS! Now, parents go up to school and say, "Don't you be lying on my kid. He didn't do anything wrong..." That flat out lets the kid know that he can do almost anything he wants and get away with it. It sets a bad precidence, and it is just a precursor for things to come. #3 The Schools. Schools must, as Joe Clark did on Lean on Me, IDENTIFY THE BAD KIDS THAT ARE INHIBITING THE LEARNING PROCESS OF THE KIDS WHO WANT TO LEARN AND GET RID OF THEM. I don't care where they go, either. 3 Strikes and the boot. The really bad/violent kids get 2 strikes. First strike call the parents/parent and set up a meeting that the parent must attend. Let the parent know that their kid WILL BE (not MIGHT BE) put OUT of school if this behavior continues. Just

Jeezus...it's Mother's Day, and having to read this is too much for me. All the good feelings that are supposed to be tied up into this day, the joys of being a mom, or a kid...and then you see stories like this .

Makes me NOT want kids. No, it should make you want to have kids and make sure that you raise them RIGHT! By St. Boogar and all the saints at the backside door of Purgatory!

Seriously. I was like 'what's the Gang Rape Principle'? Oh, God, me too. I'm such a dork. Jesus...at thirteen I don't see how a kid could fathom doing something like that.
