Favorite non-U.S. actors

Just finished watching "Je T'aime, Paris," a collection of love stories set in different parts of Paris. It was outstanding. It's the second Paris-set film I've watched in about a week, and I'm starting to miss the city.

At any rate, I've always loved foreign cinema, and was happy to see some favorites crop up in the movie, such as Gerard Depardieu and Gena Rowland.

I was especially pleased with the role played by Juliette Binoche (great as ever)

and was floored by Aïssa Maïga. lurking eek lurking

In general, I also think Jean Reno is a great actor. Like his work.

Yeah, it was weird seeing her in "Dan in Real Life," playing an American-sounding woman. But, I kept hearing some "elsewhere" in her diction.

Michelle Yeoh would beat up your Olivia fellow in about 5
seconds -- and remain the consummate lady while doing so.

you're right on that one. She's pretty awesome. I loved her in Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon and in Memoirs of a Geisha.

Javier Bardem has a knack for bringing vulnerability to his characters.
He was awesome in No Country for Old Men.

He was smoking upwind of a small herd of animals. Poor, defenseless creatures.

His utter lack of concern for his environment -- let alone his health -- I don't see how one could celebrate that.

Meanwhile, it's my understanding that Paz Vega actually donates clean air to animals in her native Spain. Yay, Paz!

He's French! Smoking and not caring are a part of his culture!

Besides, you can't donate air like it's money.

Yeah, she was... somethin' else! Not much time given her character, but she did well to convey a wide range of emotions in a short period. nod
