Restaurant Bans Children Younger Than 6

http://www.kptv.com/news/...etail.html

SILVERTON, Ore. -- Management for a popular Silverton restaurant announced Thursday that young children would no longer be allowed into the establishment.

The manager at the Red Thai restaurant on Oak Street said children younger than 6 aren't welcome in the eatery.

The Red Thai manager, Craig Gereau, said children disrupt people who are trying to enjoy a quiet dinner.

He said most of his customers like the new rule, but he's had to turn some people away.

"We've had to turn a few young parents away. They're a little bit appalled, a little bit annoyed, but we have to do what we have to do. We can't stay in business to please everybody," Gereau said.

Gereau said he's not discriminating against anyone, he just wants to run a restaurant that caters to adults, and there are plenty of family restaurants in Silverton for children.

Oy, I know the parents will think this is so rude lol but I gotta admit I like it. Take the kids to the kid friendly spots! I guess if it's an unusually well behaved child it's okay but all that kicking & screaming shit is disruptive, I like being spared from that demon

Anxiety

this is why we have "family restaurants", isn't it? if you're afraid of the rugrats causing a scene and you see that an establishment is a "family restaurant", then you figure they're ready to see the worst and that anyone who eats there is prepared to deal with the kiddies.

then there are the places mommy and daddy go when they can hire a babysitter and have some grown-up time alone. i think it's perfectly acceptable for there to be establishments where people can get away from kids, especially if you're a parent who needs a break and a nice night out. why not?

then again, hell, i just went to a lesbian bar this week that allows children (they have a restaurant section). after experiencing that, all bets are off. lol

people bring their kids to Urban Mo's what used to be Hamburger Mary's for Sunday Morning Brunch.... i don't know why straight or gay people bring their children to what is basically a gay bar that happens to serve food.

I see nothing wrong with this.

It's really hard for young kids in that kind of social setting...and quite frankly I think it's really unfair to them to drag them along and expect them to sit there quietly so they don't bother others.

If they are going to do this, then they should ban the old ass people with the crack cough.

You know, that cough that goes on and on while you are eating.

I applaud them. They have made a decision based on what they believe is right for their business. That's as it should be (rather than the government telling them who they have to serve).

What little kid really likes Thai food anyway? shrug

We have a gay/lesbian bar & grill here in Iowa. It's called Hamburger Mary's. They bring your bill to you in a red high heel.
