An earnest question

Why is it ( I've seen this a lot on here) that many feel the need to exert power through correction of others short comings? This is not to say share a solicited opinion but assert one where it was never asked for?

Is it that one supposes the subject doesn't know their own short comings?

Is it some form of expectations one holds themselves to and thus measures all others by? If so, is it not more-so about you and flagging your strenghs in the first place?

I find condescension one of the lowest forms of human communication.

Do you yourself feel that you learned or improved by a demeaning remark sent your way? If not, why perpetrate it against others?

If a believer, do you feel that God has ever dealt with you that way and hence you benefited from it? Then why pray tell do you believe another would?

it can be annoying or hurtful when people do this but sometimes it can make you look at your behavior more objectively and maybe try to improve upon that short coming.

It can also make you more paranoid about aspects of your personality that you really don't need to be paranoid about.

Absolutly not, to simple. Its about the concept in general. Correcting my spelling is without a doubt easy fodder to go at.

LOL no, in my opinion i think it is about people who feel empowered to belittle others for some reason to feel more bigger than the other, its kind of like the "High school bully" picking on the "Little nerdy Kid". Its not cool nor is it even fair.why would you want to do something to someone that you would not like done to you.

"I find condescension one of the lowest forms of human communication."

I must agree with that statment

I see unbalanced ego often not only here but in my everyday life away from
here.

Insults to me speak much more about the person tossing them out then any point they are trying to make about another.

I'm not 100% sure why, but I suspect you could probably pull out a couple of the 7 deadly sins and build a thesis around that .

There's nothing I hate more than someone who criticizes me but doesn't have the nerve to be direct about it--sort of like a back handed compliment's twin sister ,so to speak.

Sometimes they get what they want--a rise out of me, for I'm only human--I DO feel pangs of negative emotions if the stimulus hits in the right place, at the right time, and unfortunately I act out in anger and all the other pointless expressions that don't help the situation.

But there's a famous buddhist quote that I always wish I could live by (I don't lol, but still want to): Do not judge. Go and help.

to me, face-value is a slippery thing. intentions r what counts.

to feel like ur being condescended to by someone else

u must be looking up at them

which means u placed urself beneath them.

its more about self-esteem than anything else, to me anyway heart
my innocence raped my trust betrayed my mind deceived my heart in smitherines and u've got the gall to breathe.

i think lack is part of it, if by lack you mean one's own insecurities. People often project their own insecurities on to others. It can be difficult to deal with but, in the end, it's how we respond to it that matters the most.

Self esteem certainly could take a hit by such behavior couldn't it? As you meant me personally, I certainly can be momentarily offended and hurt by such things but I have long known my short comings although my strengths are fantastic so, no dice! I learned so long ago not to use the court of public opinion as a barometer of who i am. I am beneath no human although I also see myself as above no person either.

I am more taken with the need of individuals to attempt to demean others in an attempt to elevate their own station in life.

I agree with this. I think it is good to respond to it openly sometimes.

Not sure if this is what you're looking for, but as far as God giving us stuff we might not like, here's my take:

Be thankful for everything God sends your way. View setbacks and obstacles as gifts from God, and suddenly they don't look so imposing.

Just my two cents.

God is dead on the money as far as i am concerned. He never stoops to condescension for elevation. The question would then be why do we as individuals theoretically lessor then said maker think we are called to the method?

I agree. I also think that sometimes its easier for someone to point another's shortcomings than to face themselves and point out their own. It takes a lot of courage and a break down of pride to do that.
