inspired by scents thread... What was the first perfume/cologne u ever bought? I mean your very first cologne or perfume? The first I ever wore was my grandpa's Brut, but my first bottle i bought as a 14 year old for myself was either Joop or Coolwater one of those two. I remember smearing on way too much and the scent being so overpowering after P.E. and putting it on to cover up my Jr. High funk! lol so what about you> Carpenters bend wood, fletchers bend arrows, wise men fashion themselves.

Bought this for my dad, on a trip to France & Switzerland, while I was in high school. Knew no French, only Spanish and English. Great-smelling fragrance. I had a sample for myself, but discovered after the trip that the cologne kicked my sinuses into overdrive! . [Edited 5/8/08 19:28pm]

The first I ever wore was my father's Brute or Old Spice. The first I ever bought for myself was...

when i was in grade school, some girl who had a crush on me bought me a cologne set of english leather. i thought that was fancy.
then my mom got me a salvador dali cologne gift set when i was in junior high, and i thought that was extra fancy. then when i was in high school, i discovered JOOP! and i thought it smelled like fruit loops and it was kind of pricey compared to english leather, so of coruse i thought it was super extra fancy. then i went into college and realized that cologne was giving me headaches and sinus problems so i quit using it altogether, which given my track history is probably for the best.

when I was little I had a tiny little bottle of perfume, that in the weird and wonderful world of my memory, the smell is mixed up with a wasps nest I found in grandma's boathouse.

Isn't it funny how we associate smells with certain memories? Drakkar Noir reminds me of junior high school and Sunday mornings getting dressed for church. Ὅσον ζῇς φαίνου

Of course, my purchasing Dunhill Edition for my dad followed those middle school years, when my buddies and I would pass around the little drugstore samples of Jovan Musk or Stetson.
We thought we were the stuff!

lol i don't think i acutally bought perfume until university.
for christmas i think someone gave me an avon bottle that had a snowman knitted cover thingy my sister brought me back a bottle from france when i was in grade 8 or so. very cool bottle. and a woman i babysat for gave me a rather heady scent from avon sometime during highschool. it was quite nice, actually. so the first perfume i bought for myself is also the last perfume i bought for myself even though i always wanted to get those dali perfumes
