My parents are close.
Hate the heat and humidity, but love the fact that we don't have brutal winters. It's a good trade off. The beach is close. Amusement parks are close (remember, we have 4 kids) Tampa is close, and it has enough big city appeal without the big city headaches. There are lots of quality places to eat and things to do. Then an hour ride and we're back in our quiet subdivision. It's not overcrowded. Traffic isn't bad. We live in a big house. oh yeah, a Target is being built about 5 miles away! If we could get a Trader Joes and a Whole Foods here, I'll never leave!

my neighbors, great people who give GREAT parties at least once a quarter.
the bar that we keep stocked and it gets rolled from house to house depending on where the next party is. same neighbors who look out for my mom and mow my lawn when I haven't been home enough to do it and how safe and loved that makes me feel. Texas High School Football Texas High School Girls Basketball Community support for the kids here is phenomenal, every one goes to the games Texas national parks 4 within 150 miles! Bluebonnets Oak trees, hills and valleys, lakes and rivers wildlife, white tailed deer, raccoons, foxes, wild turkeys, ring tailed cats all in my neighborhood sighted on a daily basis. Proximity 1 hour to austin 2 hours to dallas 2 hours to san antonio 3 hours to houston all comes in handy when P plays all those places on tour last by not least the military families I love them, the good, the bad, and the ugly of them, but mostly the community of them, we are here for each other. We all should know that diversity makes for a rich tapestry, and we must understand that all the threads of the tapestry are equal in value no matter what their color. Maya Angelou

My place:
-is in downtown Toronto -is a brand new building (opened in 2006) -is a 20 minute walk from my office (I walk to work every day, saving on transportation) and the harbourfront -is a 15 minute walk from the good clubs & bars -is a 5 minute walk from the grocery store -is a 2 minute walk from the Eaton's Centre & Yonge Street -has a well-equipped gym that I use every day -has a movie theatre, large 2-story party room and library with free cable TV; all are free (theatre and party room must be reserved in advance, for obvious reasons)

Right outside where I work is one of the prettiest stretches of road in the entire state of Wisconsin (and there are a lot of pretty country roads here).
On Tuesday, I needed to go to the post office. There wasn't a cloud in the sky and it was about 70 degrees. In short...a perfect day. So instead of just going to the post office in the town where I work, I hopped in the car and drove 20 miles over that winding, two-lane road to the next town...with the sunroof open and Parade blasting on the car stereo. Nothing could touch me after that. I had a smile on my face all afternoon. We don’t mourn artists because we knew them. We mourn them because they helped us know ourselves.

I'm not sure if you're asking about my country or the roof over my head but...
I love living in Canada because it's still fairly civilized, fairly clean and isn't ruled by religion (yet). My home....it's a condo so it's cozy, easy to keep clean and I never have to shovel snow or rake leaves and it's affordable. We're not in over our heads. And, we have tons of great restaurants too. Right now the Locus Trees are in full bloom and the smell in the air everywhere is amazing I love that i'm not an 'orger' but i have been around from time to time... my aacount names have been 'Ginnie' and TaoDevi i'd just like to say i always dig your threads what i love about where i live... the sun shines brightly everyday. rarely is there a day where we are blanketed in clouds for more than briefly. U can always play in the sunshine i'm less than an hour from the atlantic coast and an hour from the gulf coast. i'm a beach bum so this comes in handy! i'm close enough to the caribbean islands that i can island hop at will. i'm an island girl at heart i'll be blessed (Universe willing) to travel to four islands this summer. when the orange blossoms & magnolia trees are in full bloom the outside air smells like an over perfumed old lady but it's a beautiful thing. i live on a lake and have a pond with duckies, big crane birds and turtles in my front yard. the flowers bloom even in December! and while in my future i plan to move to ft. lauderdale Orlando will always hold a very special place in my heart. it's a wonderful thing. i love where i live "Well shes walking through the clouds with a circus mind thats running round; Butterflies and zebras and moonbeams and fairy tales thats all she ever thinks about, riding with the wind."
