Roger Clemens should never have poked that beehive

It was alleged today that Clemens had a 10-year affair with country singer
http://www.nydailynews.co...tml?page=0

The story of this alleged affair came from Brian MacNamee, among others. As you may remember, Clemens sued MacNamee for defamation of character after the Mitchell Report came out. MacNamee's lawyer said that "all is fair" because the issue is whether Clemens had any character to defame.

Roger Clemens is a total fool, for many reasons - arrogance, pride, etc. But the biggest mistake he ever made was getting Rusty Hardin to represent him. Hardin is a hack, and everyone in the Houston legal community knows it.

Now comes the McCready affair. Among the many questions it raises is one very, very important one - Did Clemens have sex with a minor?

I'm not sure Clemens will get into the Hall of Fame as it is, but if he had sex with a minor, he can surely kiss the HOF goodbye.

McCready confirmed the news story was true, saying "I cannot refute anything in the story" last night.

The report says McCready and Clemens went back to his hotel room the night they met, but they didn't have sex. Keep in mind she was FIFTEEN. So we are to believe a 28-year-old millionaire meets a 15-year-old hottie and takes her back to his hotel room, with nothing but pure motives?

Riiiiggggghhhhht. The story goes on to say Clemens and McCready didn't become intimate until she moved to Nashville. It does NOT say how old she was when that occurred.

And the obvious question - especially if you're Mrs. Clemens - is this: How many more Mindy McCreadys were there?

I am using this story to illustrate to my kids the value of honesty and owning a mistake. If Clemens had just owned up to it, he'd be in the clear right now. But he lied, and so far, here is where he stands:

-Under investigation by the Justice Department for lying to Congress
-Has probably lost the respect of his sons for his actions with McCready
-No one in baseball will give him the time of day
-He can almost surely write off ever getting into the Hall of Fame
-McNamee can sue him at any time, and almost assuredly will
-The size of the check he's going to have to write McNamee is going to include at least 6 zeros
-His marriage? You've got to be kidding
-The size of the check he'd have to write Debbie Clemens is going to include more zeros than McNamee's
-In fact, the smart thing for the Clemens would be for Debbie to divorce him now, so she can protect at least half the estate from McNamee

I am sorry Clemens has brought this down upon himself. I know he used to be one of the most arrogant people you'd ever have the misfortune to meet, but I thought he'd turned over a new leaf after visiting Iraq.

Of course, there's a very good chance a lot of this fallout was caused by listening to Houston's Worst Lawyer, Rusty Hardin.

I doubt it will make a lick of difference if/when Debbie divorces him.

Now, this is an interesting case. A lot of people said Bonds should have sued the authors of "Game of Shadows" if, indeed, the book was full of lies. Bonds did not sue, and that was seen as an admission of guilt.

Clemens, on the other hand, DID sue and look where that's gotten him.

Of course, he hired Houston's Worst Lawyer. That was a mistake.

McCready's mother - who was beaten up by McCready - was contacted by the Houston Chronicle. Her comments are illuminating:

McCready's mother, Gayle Inge, confirmed that McCready had a lengthy relationship with Clemens but said she had no knowledge of how intimate the two were. Inge said at one point she spoke to her daughter about the relationship and suggested it was not appropriate.

"There was a time that I called when there certainly was a reason to say something," Inge told the Chronicle. "But to be honest, I've not had a whole lot of input into her decisions. She's pretty good about putting me in my place. She said it was none of my business."

Inge said she met Clemens at her home in North Fort Myers, Fla., and that he was respectful and kind. She also said Clemens and a number of his Red Sox teammates came to the home when Inge was not there for a birthday party thrown by McCready.

"It wasn't her birthday, but she is very creative," Inge said.

Hey, you know who's really interested in this story? The IRS. Why? you ask?

The story said Clemens sent her FedEx boxes stuffed with cash to help her deal with her legal problems.

You think Mindy McCready declared that income on her tax return? Me neither.

You think the IRS wants to know if Clemens was part of a willful conspiracy to help McCready evade income taxes? Yeah, I bet they've thought about that.

Sucks to be Clemens right now.

sure he is. he didn't lie about what he did. he's not required to admit to anything. the public can make up their own mind about his use/non-use of steroids. the bottom line is he'll have to deal with the scrutiny from the comfy confines of his multi-million dollar home rather than an 8x10 jail cell.

It just gets worse and worse for the Rocket:

Source: Roger Clemens had several women, flew them on private jet
BY TERI THOMPSON AND MICHAEL O'KEEFFE IN NEW YORK AND CHRISTIAN RED IN NASHVILLE
DAILY NEWS STAFF WRITERS
Wednesday, April 30th 2008, 12:10 AM

Roger Clemens hung out with several attractive women in his baseball career, including beauties in California and Boston and a former Manhattan bartender named Angela Moyer.

Clemens, 45, flew the women around the country on his private jet and bought expensive jewelry for at least one of them, a source told the Daily News Tuesday.

As the Daily News first reported Sunday, the Rocket carried on a decade-long affair with country singer Mindy McCready, who confirmed the romantic relationship Monday.

Moyer, a 30-year-old Realtor who lives in the Harrisburg, Pa., area, worked as a bartender from 2000 to 2004 at Sutton Place, a yuppie East Side watering hole. That's roughly the same time the pitching legend played for the Yankees.

Moyer acknowledged she knew Clemens, but has declined to discuss the relationship. She was spotted driving up to her father's apartment house Tuesday night, but said only "no comment" when asked about Clemens. She then sped off.

McCready, meanwhile, appeared at a suburban Nashville studio Tuesday to begin recording the comeback album she hopes will revive her career, which has stalled as the result of legal troubles.

"I've been playing poker and I invented a new game called 'I win,'" McCready said with a laugh, still nervous from her time under the media microscope this week.

Her mother, Gayle Inge, later told The News, "I know Roger was infatuated with Mindy."

The romantic relationship with McCready could cause big problems for Clemens, who portrayed himself as a devoted family man at the Feb. 13 congressional hearing on steroids and baseball.

Clemens filed a defamation suit in January against Brian McNamee, his former personal trainer, who accused the seven-time Cy Young Award winner of using performanceenhancing drugs.

McNamee's lawyer, Richard Emery, said revelations of affairs could hamper Clemens' claims that McNamee's drug allegations damaged his reputation.

Clemens' lawyer, Rusty Hardin, did not return a call for comment Tuesday night.

The FBI is investigating Clemens for perjury after he denied McNamee's steroid accusations under oath at the February congressional hearing.

His wife, Debbie, has also emerged as a character in Clemens' Mitchell Report saga. The News first reported that McNamee injected Clemens' wife with human growth hormone before she posed for a Sports Illustrated swimsuit spread.
Former slugger Jose Canseco said he was stunned to learn his former teammate had an affair with McCready.

"I found out about it Tuesday and it took me completely by surprise," said Canseco, who wrote in his first book, "Juiced," that the legendary pitcher never strayed from his wife.

"I saw none of it. If it is true, he kept it secret."

Has anyone noticed that the ONLY baseball player taking up for Clemens is Jose Canseco?
