Do you believe in The Creation,Adam, Jesus and all that stuff - answer this..

Do you deluded fools accept Dinosaurs existed?

I caught the end of a fascinating debate and some religious bumpkin was making out the Earth is only a few thousand years old, and that things such as dinosaurs never existed. He came across as a brainwashed idiot.Don't you people realise The Bible is a work of fiction?

I'll bet in 2000 years they'll be digging issues of Superman out of the sand and thinking the exact same thing as followers of the Bible.Mark my words!

What the hell are these people on?! nuts

P.S. i do believe in a God.Just not a man made one, or one i've had my arm twisted to believe in.There probably is a higher being of some kind somewhere laughing at all you idiots.

DCM here,

I touched on this a little while ago re: evolution and dino's with some of the religious end of the world types here and didnt get the answers that I wanted either.

I am curious as to why they dont believe in them either or why they cant explain why the bible doesnt talk about them too?

Funny story, I'm in NYC at the Museum of Natural History with my girl and her mother who also goes to the DUB Church, and she wouldnt look at the dino bones!
She kept saying that it wasnt there! And she insisting that they were created like a Jurrasic Park model and they werent real!

It was funny to me anyway!

Hey, cherryloon, is it cold where you live under a foot bridge?

And most creationists believe man and the dinosaurs co-existed.

Hey, I read about this one Prince fan who saved a sand dollar for 20 years only to have Prince break it...what the hell are those people on?

Im a christian and i believe there were Dinosaurs. How do you explain the bones and stuff. In the book of Job God talks about animals and He describes some very strange animals that we believe to be dinosaurs.

ps. i didnt have my arm twisted into believing what i believe. Before i became a Christian i didnt want anything to do with God. God drew me to him and i have faith in him. Heck...even unbelievers live by faith everyday i believe they just don't want to believe. I was there myselfe once.

I caught the end of a fascinating debate and some religious bumpkin was making out that things such as dinosaurs never existed. He came across as a brainwashed idiot.

***To whom are you directing this question? The "brainwashed idiot" from the TV program can not hear you...and the Christians here understand that dinosaurs, as well as other now extinct animals, existed.

I'll bet in 2000 years they'll be digging issues of Superman out of the sand and thinking the exact same thing as followers of the Bible.Mark my words!

***I also believe that 2000 years from now, people will still believe in the Bible. You seem confused as to what people who believe in the Bible actually BELIEVE.

What the hell are these people on?! nuts

***I can only tell you what we are not on, but then you would accuse me of having a "holier-than- thou" attitude.

P.S. i do believe in a God.Just not a man made one, or one i've had my arm twisted to believe in.There probably is a higher being of some kind somewhere laughing at all you idiots.

***This is indeed encouraging, because believing in a man-made god would be the ultimate in foolishness as discussed in the scriptures---there it discusses the absurdity of believing in gods contrived by man.

Don't you realize that whatever program you were listening to was just a PROGRAM?...just somebody's opinions?
Why would you jump to the conclusion that this program is representative of the beliefs of all Christians?

You say there is PROBABLY a higher being...good thought!
Laughing at us? I doubt that! The deteriorated condition of the world today is no laughing matter.
You are right, the true God is not man-made. He made man.
I'm glad you did not buy into the god that they were twisting your arm to believe.
Now...all you have to do is discover the essence of that higher being (God) that you speak of.

Some ppl believe and others dont. All we need to do is accept that everybody is different. Everybody has there own opinions and views. Beleiving in god is not waterproof. There are a lot of question about god/religions. The same goes for science. Scientifics were wrong too. Stuff they were sure of in past turned out to be wrong. Scientifics argue a lot about what happend in history. The more i read about history the less i know. Nobody really knows what happend , Nobody really knows how life started. All we do is guess.

I agree with you Janeau...it seems that someone is always
issuing a challenge...
Whatever floats your boat...I say.
However, the very fact that these issues keep resurfacing
is interesting in itself.
There is something about the essence of "the existence of
God" that just will not go away.
It is also interesting that the issues are USUALLY
not raised by people of faith in the Bible...though sometimes they are.
And of course, once the issue is raised...it's like putting
a shrimp on the hook and dropping your line into gulf waters. The bait will be taken.
It is the nature of true believers to talk about their God...even when they know someone's trying to "catch" them.
I, for one appreciate what you said.

SensualMelody pls explain some of this from your profile -

We are simply human beings...wonderfully made...but mortal. We should be able to humbly admit that we did not make ourselves and our design is so perfect with male and female counterparts so perfectly suited for one another for the perpetuation of the species, that to imagine that poof!...one day there was man AND
woman evolving together at the same time...??
The creation account is so much more plausible.
In the beginning, God created...
Know what else? In the end God will save his creation. Ps37:29 The righteous will inherit the earth and live FOREVER on it. Rev 21:3,4 ...and death will be no more. Neither will mourning nor outcry nor pain be anymore.

1.Wonderfully made? explain deformity at birth.

2.what is your take on Homosexuality and Homosexual followers of the bible?

3.The Creation account. more plausible than the 'big bang'?.Do you honestly believe the universe was created in 6 days? Do you have no faith in science? at all?

7.In the End the "righteous" will probably live in a nuclear desert. It won't be fun.

also why do Jehova's witnesses allegedly believe in refusing a blood transfusion, but when push comes to shove and they could well die, they accept it.

where's their faith?

Also..
For all the beauty and wonder of creation
there is an equal amount of ugliness and destruction.

So if you believe in God...
Do you believe God created everything (warts n all)
Or you believe in some half-power God who only made
all the nice things (and if that's the case who made
the rest of the stuff, coz they would have to be just
as powerful as God)?

ThreadBare

Good thread. Thanks for asking these questions.

The fact that most Bible-believing folks, Christians, born-again believers, saints, etc. who subscribe to the Genesis account of creation also believing in dinosaurs has been eloquently confirmed in previous posts.

And, like Melody said, most of us are more than willing to discuss God -- not just because of His awesomeness that's evidenced by the things we see and often take for granted (trees, music, life, friendship, food, etc.) but also for the things we've seen Him do in our lives, the personal crises He's either strengthened us to endure or rescued us from.

I believe the Bible because it contains not just wonderful stories of God's life-changing love but because in it I also find a system for living that involves being reconciled to God through Christ, fellowshiping & communicating with Him and watching Him handle issues in my life far too great for me to deal with. And, because the tangible results and miracles that come from that relationship with Him not only involve my spiritual salvation but, quite often, also my physical one. (I've lived through some STUFF, y'all... Orgnote me if you'd like to hear about the tornado I survived.)

So, what results is not brainwashing (although the Bible has a knack for cleaning up my thinking) or life built on a fairy tale, but a life of faith built on my knowledge of what God has done (primarily for me, but also for others) and because He really does answer prayer.

{Two good books by Josh McDowell that touch on the very real points of your thread question are:

A Ready Defense -- (deals with historical accounts of Jesus, His life and the universal experiences of His believers around the world.)

And Answers to Tough Questions -- it discusses dinosaurs and a host of other topics.}

But, I welcome those who question the reality of Christ's deity and the soundness, truth and accuracy of the Bible to prove it the tough way: Seriously ask Jesus if He's real and to forgive you of your sins, become your Savior and Lord and PROVE that He's real and that the Bible is true. Ask Him to handle problems in your life that seem impossible, and watch Him work things out!

If it's all a bunch of bunk, your life won't improve, will it? And, you'll go into it being sure of your doubts and reservations and knowing you're hardly the type to be brainwashed. Tell God about those doubts. He already knows about them, and He's used to proving Himself real to those who earnestly seek Him.

What do you have to lose?

I could reply some answers with reasonable remarks.
I don't do that because you will not be intersested in it anyway.
How do i know this? Because in your question i can read that you already have your own opinion. That's no bollocks.
So next time you ask some question ,try to stand more open to any answers. Or don't ask the question.

1.Wonderfully made? explain deformity at birth.

Deformity at birth/Bible's explanation:"Just as through one man sin entered the world and death through sin abd thus death spread to all men..."Rom 5:12 The imperfections inherent in man are not to God's liking but
a natural consequence of man's actions...In due time, God promises to correct all these things. There is reason for his allowing the evidence to be clearly displayed. Please understand that God is very unhappy with the state that man finds himself. The innocent often suffer in this world. There is this fallacy that God is responsible for EVERYTHING that happens to man. The Bible says that "the whole world is lying in the power of the wicked one." Soon, that will not be the case...according to the scriptures.
ISAIAH says that...there will be none born with deformities then.

2.what is your take on Homosexuality and Homosexual followers of the bible?

The shrimp on this hook looks unappetizing...moving on to other bait...Seriously, I have no right to judge. The Bible does assert in Corinthians 6:9-11 that some who had been homosexuals and fornicators...would inherit God's Kingdom...

3.The Creation account. more plausible than the 'big bang'?.Do you honestly believe the universe was created in 6 days? Do you have no faith in science? at all?

This is sooo funny!!! No I do not believe that the universe was created in 6 days!!! Where do you get these ideas??? The Bible only addresses the creation of the earth and its surrounding heavens...not the entire universe. Plus, when the bible speaks of a day, it is seldom a literal 24 hour day. Similarly, when I speak of the "day of the dinosaurs", I do not mean 24 hours...We have no idea how long the creation took. We simply know that it took place in well organized stages...just like science describes it...vegetation, sea animals, birds, land animals, man!!! Many scientists are ardent Christians. My college minor is science...Jehovah IS the GREAT SCIENTIST!!
Pure science and the Bible are in complete agreement!

7.In the End the "righteous" will probably live in a nuclear desert. It won't be fun.

According to the Bible, God will not allow man to destroy this earth. It will be restored to paradise conditions. This capability on the part of the earth's regenerative powers has been demonstrated time and time again. Small stuff for God. It will be more than fun. It will be as God originally purposed...

also why do Jehova's witnesses allegedly believe in refusing a blood transfusion, but when push comes to shove and they could well die, they accept it.

See Freechild for this one. She runs a bloodless surgery facility in New Jersey...dedicated to the saving of lives through the use of non-blood management care. She can go into the scientifics for you. For my part, the docs tried to force blood on me, promising me death if I refused. I explained some alternative procedures to them...which they reluctantly resigned themselves to...after all they were the doctors...I LIVED.

where's their faith?
Still in tact, I'm sure. Mine is.

There was a question about asexual reproduction as in protozoans and some few other slightly higher forms of life: Jehovah was just showing off. He could have done it differently. So much beauty and variety in God's creations!!!
So much to learn, so little time...as Prince says...depends on how you view your role in eternity...

Hey thanks man...you made my day!!!...On a spiritual high now...Love that Jehovah God!!!
So...how's everybody doing? smile

Hello Boris music

You asked about those who believe in God...
I can only answer from the standpoint of those who believe in the God of the Bible...(there are many other dieties according to some)...
So, according to the Bible...2 Cor 4:4 Satan is the god of this system of things."The whole world is lying in the power of the wicked one" 1 John 5:19
There is this horrible trend to blame God for things
for which he is clearly not responsible...He is the one who is offereing the solution to all the problems!!! People keep getting the saint mixed up with the villian.

Of course there are problems. Of course we have troubles.
All this is part of the Devil's design. No, he is not a ficticious creature running around in a red suit. He was created a beautiful angel...who decided to challenge God's authority...Look at the results!!! Why didn't God just stop that fallen angel? Look it up. The answer is in the book!...
So...how's everybody doing? smile

Personally, I think you're rather rude to call someone's beliefs "bollocks". You assume that all Christians are bumpkins who believe like this person, and that we just blindly follow this religion. This is generalizing, and it is just as offensive to say that ALL Christians are like this, as it is to use any other stereotype about any group. You should take a clue from Icenine, who 99% of the time shows nothing but respect for others beliefs, even when he is vehemently arguing against their point of view.

If you want to discuss a topic like this, it would be better to present your case AS YOUR OPINION, not that you are right, and that anyone who disagrees with you is a deluded fool. I went through many years of research and soul-searching before I took on the beliefs I have, and there are many others like me. I realise that many Christians only believe what they do because of the way they were raised. More often than not, people follow the path of least resistance, and don't bother to question anything they have been told as they grew up (and this applies to all belief system, even those of non-belief. I've known plenty of atheist and agnostics who only believed as they did because their parent raised them that way).

I get just as frustrated as you do by ignorant Christians who come up with half-baked theories to try to explain things that seem to contradict science in the Bible. Personally, I DO believe in evolution, the big-bang and dinosaurs. I think the first few books of the Bible are largely metaphoric, and written for people to understand throughout the ages. The tale in Genesis is fairly simply written, and was subject to oral tradition. Whether or not everything transpired EXACTLY like Genesis presents it is irrelevant, being that the lessons it teaches are what's important. I think too many Christians are hung up on details like this, which have nothing to do with the point. This doesn't, however, make the Bible "irrelevant" or a "work of fiction". The lessons are there (man doesn't always know what's good for him). The Point is there (God created people), and that's all that matters. I think that Genesis is a simple story, because it had to be understood by people for thousands of years. God making man from "the dust of the Earth" could be a metaphor for man being a carbon-based lifeform. How in the hell would early man know what the hell carbon is?

The bible is thought of by many believers as the "word of God". The problem is, this term has become bastardized. Divine inspiration doen't mean that God came down from the Heavens and dictated word for word to some pre-historic court stenographer. It means, quite simply that the spirit of God was involved in the crafting of these books. The writers of Genesis (and there was probably more than one) were given visions of creation from God, and then had to put it into terms that made sense to them, and others. Have you ever had a dream that made sense to you, but was almost impossible to put into words? It would be something like that. Now, I personaly believe that God did that on purpose, presenting complex ideas to a more simple mind, so that humanity could bloom, grow, and come to understand these things in time. I think the discovery of evolution, quantum physics, etc is a part of that process. As we evolve as a species, we are learning God's design. We now can see what it was that the writer(s) of Genesis were referring to. "Let there be light" refers to the moment of the big bang. "God said unto the animals, 'let us make man'" could be a reference to evolution (as well as the fact that Genesis describes each day's creations becoming more complex). I know that not all Christians think this way, but that's alright. Just because there are dumb Christians doesn't mean that the whole belief system is false.

I believe a day will come (probably in the far future) where science and religion will prove each other. I think that science will reveal the face of God, and that humanity will have grown to the point where spirituality is a scientific concept. There will be no such thing as the "supernatural" for it all creation will be seen as one thing. God didn't give us all of the information, we have to find it for ourselves. If God is the "parent" of mankind, then he probably behaves like one. A good parent must know when to give the child information, and when to let the child learn lessons for itself. The Bible is the starting point for human knowledge of God, not the end.

That's my two cents. I hope you will take the time to read it and digest it. You don't have to agree, as I'm not trying to convert you to my way of thinking. I just think you should consider these things before you start calling anyones spirituality "bollocks"

Do not hurry yourself in your spirit to become offended, for the taking of offense is what rests in the bosom of the stupid ones. (Ecclesiastes 7:9)

Sometimes i have the feeling that this is Theology site.

I understand where you are coming from, however when names like "brainwashed idiots" are used many feel the need to defend themselves.

How else do you provoke a debate?.Are you going to tell me what questions to ask next? Would that be more convenient for you then?

OK how about the detained 'Brainwashed murderers, rapists and pedophiles' in jails around the world?

I say brainwashed cause they're in jail and there probably isn't a way to escape the Prison clergy.Once they accept God in their hearts (which they invariably do as they head for execution) they are forgiven of their sins.

I think that's wrong.Very wrong. Some sins should be never forgiven IMO.
